was into show cars and wangan racing...then the fast and furious movie came out... i was mad because i knew about something a little underground then went mainstream...then about 2 years ago i was searching for an anime car show and i found Initial D...first read the manga then imported the shows...then last year was my first in person drift event.. Team Orange aka DriftXtreme put on the wildest show...fell even more in love...and now here i am eating, sleeping, and living drifting.com

i will never turn my back on drifting even if it goes mainstream it will alwats have a place in my heart

Before I knew about drifting I liked touring cars and road racing. And even before that I liked Hondas, and I still do. I'm a Hondaphile born and raised. I never cared much for drag racing (or drag racing period) with Hondas, though, because it's just stupid. Those cars were never made to handle big power. Those little B-series engines blow up alot with big turbos and their axles have a tendency of breaking on hard launches.

I always liked baja racing. looked like alot of fun. Thats what got me into air cooled VWs. There was a decent little air cooled scene in my home town, mostly bugs. still wanting to build a nice little sleeper out of mine. stock ride height and wheels, but with alot of work under the hood. 2500cc dual weber 48 IDA fire breathing four banger. *in my dreams*

Before drifting...I was all about the fast expensive and beautiful european exotics( ferrari, lamborghini, etc.)
when i was ten i realized id never own one. At age 12 I saw a blue jzx 100 mark II drifting on the front page of a Drift Tengoku magazine and since then i've never been the same

before i heard of drifting or even became interested in japanese cars i was into the F1 GP, then my interests slowly moved towards rally, but i didnt become hooked to it, just thought it was cool. then came the big FnF...i thought it was quite cool and that really got me into jap cars, dont get me wrong, i only thought the cars in fnf were cool, the whole arrogant street racer attitude was not my style, so i didnt really fit in with the other guys. while they were into heavily modifying the cars and racing them down a one way lane, i stuck to my roots and preffered the turns. then one day one of my neighbours asked me to go with him to one of the runs that he attends, thinking that this was a chance to see nice cars up close, i went with him in his old rwd celica (i thought it was a peice of junk at the time). i was disappointed wen i arrived, i only found some 180's and s13's...but that was before i saw them drift. i instantly became hooked, hungry for more i got my hands on his initial d and option vids and am still hungering for more to this day...

                    I don't understand the question...

                    ..."Before Drifting"?

Before drifting I was riding my bike and watching Bill Nye after middle school let out.

I started drifting on the mountian I lived on in CT to and from school and work every day.

i was sorta into cars pre fast and furious but when that came out it just blew up. my friend (sil-beer) had an old super street of his dads that had a little section in back called right hand rides and i thought those cars were so much nicer than the over the top fnf rice stuff. Started to like the sorta beater street fighter car look of flat black and beat up body kits. it just looked so bad a$$. Was dling some car movies and got the one with the backfirig skyline and the street drifters. got more and more drift vids and it just kinda snowballed. So here i am. Oh and i lurked on these boards for qite some time before actually making an account.

the question is what were you into before you knew about drifting. not that hard.

ok well me... i always liked nice cars no matter what they were... so i got a playstation and driver... gran tourismo and grand theft auto 2. when i got to playing GT2 i started off getting my licenses and saw beautiful cars. skylines, fiats, NSX's... etc. so i started looking for some import mags and eventually got into Import Tuner and Super Street. never went for the riced out civics and *Censored**Censored**Censored**Censored*... i hated them. FnF came out but i never went to see it until it came out on video and ill admit i loved it. waited for the second. noticed in super street they started talking about drifting and showed some decent little pics... then they had the D1GP coverage from 2003... and it was over. drifting will always be my favorite of motorsports. touge came after that and thats what im currently looking at while practicing drifting.

Before I got into drifting, I was about as hardcore into grip driving as anyone can be. I'd been on tons of backroad drives and mountain runs. (SoCal people might recognize the name: Palomar Mountain) I read all I could about racing techniques. I was also into the BMW e30 chassis more than anything, mostly because I own a '90 325i.

Then along came my friend Drew, who talked about Initial D. So, naturally, I asked questions about Initial D and about this "drifting" thing. At first, it sounded like nothing more than glorified powersliding, but then he explained it. The guy has this knack for explaining things through sounds and the movements of his hands... brilliant, I tell you. After that, I was hooked. I bought Initial D manga and "Drifting" magazine and began searching all over the place online. Since then, I've decided to buy myself a track/autocross/canyonrun/mountainrun/drift 240.

Oh, and D1 didn't help my bank account either.

thats a good question! i definitly bought my car for one purpose, RALLY. had a subaru, and realized i just liked the part when was doing slides. i realized it was time for a new car when i was looking for rally videos and i found drift videos, i was bummed at first but once i popped in that video, i was trying to drift later that night. i hit a curb i sucked and knew it was going to be fun to learn.
