    Yes, they are movies.

This does not mean that the stunts didn't happen.

The cars are driven in that way several times to get the best shot.

It is a real car, a real person and a real road, special effects can do a lot but not everything.

actually ive never seen any REAL drifting in movies. ive seen tons of powersliding in movies and on tv but never a drift. i say they are powersliding because the car doesnt go sideways until after the apex of the turn and they usually end up losing almost all speed and burn out after the turn to catch up

i want my 600 something posts back also. i feel empty...

        this is true

It's also true that a good drift would'nt look real to an audience, your average joe can't drive like that.

        what is Real Drifting?

If a powerslide is not a drift, what is.

there are too many opinions on what a drift is. here is mine. the car is already sideways before the apex or even before the turn... you maintain a smooth line through the turn while maintaining your speed and keeping the rear end in an oversteer position while keeping the car under full control the whole time. you exit the turn smoothly and the car is pointing straight down the road by the end of the turn.

i dont know what else others might like to add.

thats probably why you've never seen any REAL drifting in movies

Your definition of drifting is one of a drifter, not the average person.

your average person dosen't think like that, especialy during a car chase.

Movies are meant to seem like real life, not a drifting event.

Most people don't know the racing line, most people don't know the limits of their cars, and most people are not under control when driving like that.

In my eyes, drifting is whenever you push a vehicle over its limits and into oversteer(and hopefully back!). But everone is entitled to their opinion. I would use you definition to describe a true drift, but not to define the term itself.

                drift truck

I will have to post pics of my old 79' Ford Courier truck with a 88' T-Bird 2.3l Turbo Coupe engine in it, rear is four linked with bilstein shocks on all four corners, poly bushings and a welded diff, Its fun to drive and it will hold WOT 3 gear slides, I would like to take it to the next NCDA event but I am not sure if they would let me run with it, or I will bring both the 240 and the truck, can't loose

My dad and I went drifting in his 98 Silverado. It was pretty entertaining. I never knew my dad could drift. It was especially fun when it was snowing out.

when my mom gets her new rav4 i told her that i'm going to take her truck and fix it up for her. it's getting the cosmo triple rotor with a triple turbo, an rx7 5speed, 3 link sus, with custom coil overs on every corner. Thats just so she can race all these little punks in there 240's and miata's.
after i get my rolla runnin' again i've got a guy that builds custom sus and said that he'd get a three link for my hilux built. i've got a 4pinion diff which acts alot like a lsd. and i'm planning on an altezza 3sge 6 speed swap. after the blower is on the eng that thing should be pushing just short of 300 hp. now anybody want to say that either of those won't drift?

I'm the last one to say that it "won't work", but I hope you have a lot of time and money on your hands because you're gonna need it. I also hope that you're a fabrication god, or at least know someone who is.

Just because you've seen something doesn't mean that it really works that way. In the words of Mike Ancas - "Under the right conditions, dyno results could show that adding dirt to your oil will increase power"

Wait until the Cosmo motor is in the car with 3 turbos on it before getting all fired up. I shutter to think what the vac system is like on the twin turbo RX-7 let alone 3 turbos....

Renault E-space F1 - had a complete carbon fiber chassis, pushrod activated double wishbone syspension, mid mount Formula 1 motor and rear wheel drive. Renault wanted to see how F1 technology could be applied in "real life" so they built that van on top of what was essentially an F1 car chassis.

it was actually running in an rx7 and the #'s came from a chassis dyno. the third turbo was a t8 i think and was like the only one that would keep boost all the way up. and the time i have the parts will be another thing. the eng looked pretty clean too like not to much of a hassle, but i also thught that about a 300z tt valve cover job and that stunk. maybe just a 13b tt instead.
