I think you are going to get your dad in a pot full of trouble if you get pulled over. If you somehow wreck, it's really on then. He will get sued for sure. Do you or he, realize just how illegal that is? I am only saying this to help you out. He could get in major poop for that.

Not too come down on you, that's not what i'm trying to do. Driving with your dad around the neighborhood does not really qualify you to argue driving technique with a real driver. It does give you a better idea of whats out there than a regular 14 year old but not much. I started driving at 13, I drove backroads with my Grandfather, but that gave me no idea what to expect when I actually started driving. It helped me be used to the car and the pressure that comes with being a beginning driver and without that, I would not be as comfortable with the vehicle as I am today. So I say keep it up, it can only help you out.

i am with ghost on that one because at 14 you should not be taking out the car. i think actually being able to drive alone (legally) is like first communion. i just plan on waiting till january or whenever.

on another note my brother was taking his car out but he was 17. he did not bother to take classes for a long time. he can drive legally now though.

at this point i am not really looking forward to being able to drive around because driving on normal roads is so boring. i am left waiting to get to the track as soon as possible.

I dont want to make it sound like i'm racing around when I drive, when I used to sneak out I'd do it during a time where no other cars where out there, because I was tired of not knowing what anything firsthand about driving. But my dad only lets me drive with him when we go to Austin where my brother lives, and he only lets me drive this really long straight highway called 290. I will not do regualr neighbor hood driving till I get a liecense no point in getting screwed. I do agree I proably should settle down until i get my permit, and thats only a couple months away so I think I can make it.

Thats another thing. Sneaking out and taking the car is total disrespect. What happens if you wreck it or destroy it? this doesn't pertain to just you but to anyone that does it. Wrong move. Think about your parents before you do that one They put clothes on your backs, food in your mouth and everything that they could and you repay them by stealing the car and doing whatever tomfoolery with it. Not cool.

My best advice to you is to start carting or something, anything to get you used to some seat time. Ask for a driving school for Christmas or something. Heck man, go to the mal and play Initial D. Not the real thing or even close but better than nothing.

It is my car (Pontiac Montana, FF van) I was using, I would never use my dad's car it is brand new, and its a Hyndai so I wouldnt drive it anyway, lol not like a van is any better, oh well . Also can i take a driving school course without a drivers license, because I would love to do that. Furthermore, I do play Initial D at the arcade, it isnt the real thing but it is good for a video game.

edit: And like I said before I will not drive anymore untill I get my permit, thanks to your advice.

I noticed the Physics in Initial D are very very unrealistic, Actually the only time i got good at initial D was after my car broke and i hadnt drifted for real in a while.

Also that sequential type transmission on there, man i hate that, i dont know how the pro guys do it.. man give me a conventional 5 speed manual any day.

Fun game though.. expensive as hell, Hell you have to pay a buck 50 even if you win to play again!

you are the exception then, 1.00 for me, everytime.

Man you know that Drifting hasn't caught on in your area when you can find an Initial D game for .25 cents a go. That's almost scary.

It's at a putt putt/go kart/bumper boat/arcade place, the best part about that is for 12$ on tuesday and friday you can play in the arcade without tokens, last time I was there however only one of the two machines was working meaning no versus battles

                              1. getting caught
                              2. waiting till you are 18
                              3. the insurance
                              4. having to go to drivers training again.

I agree with Ghost and everyone who posted, but these things are starting to happen too often. About the 14-year-old thing, I know alot of 14-year-old kids who drive. <_<

All these threads... Making me go freek... >_<
