Episode 2 (not as bad as I expected)

Ok, for starters I missed the first episode. So I didn't post in the thread on the 1st episode or the boycott thread. Yes I am new to this site as of today, and I am fairly new to this activity, just started to try this stuff this year. Although I have been a car enthusiast since I had "Hot Wheels and Matchboxes". I recored the show and took notes on my 1st viewing to get my emotional reaction to my 1st viewing of the show. I will rewatch it later to see if my feelings change.

Ok onto my show review: Ill say YES if I found it good/appropriate OR NO if it wasn't.

          1st Segment -
Intro: Host (Courtney Day) rolls up in an Eclipse with Lambo doors. Then proceeds to walk by a blue show vehicle (I think it was a BMW, not sure will review later) - NO
Host overviews the show for today - YES (she needs more confidence/enthusiam/realness in her voice) (her looks are a plus)
Drift segment - YES (although frame choices/footage/camera work/effets weren't 100% good). Female Interviewer/Model - Looks good, seemed to be hired for being bilingual in Japanese/English. Interview with Kegushi - YES!!!!!

          1st Commercial Break -
Commericial with Bling, show car products and Funk Flex (didn't catch who the commercial was for) - NO
          JCTC Commercial - YES
          Mother's Car products -YES
          Denso Spark Plugs - YES
          KW Suspension - YES
          Modified Magazine - YES
School for mechanics (missed school name) - YES
          BF Goodrich Tires - YES

          2nd Segment-
Host - see above. She is nice eye candy but needs work with script.
Drift Segment - Club4ag, Interview with Moto (DDay), Alex Pheiffer, Rhys Millen. Newbs drifting and legal events - YES!!! (only thing wrong was the host talking over some parts of the drift section.)

          2nd Commercial Break-
Magnaflow Exhaust - YES (nice commercial)
JGTC - 2nd playing of commercial - see above
          Tornado - NO
          ACT Clucthes/Flyweels - YES

          3rd Segment-
          Host- see above
JGTC Skylines - Footage, Interview, Translator, History of JGTC - YES

          3rd Commercial Break
DriverFX.com - Afterarket supplies but used a F-150 in commercial - YES but use a diffrent vehicle
Denso - 2nd playing of commercial - see above
Modified Mag - 2nd playing of commercial - see above
          MSD Ignition - YES
Magnaflow - 2nd playing of commercial - see above

          4th Segment
          Host - see above
S2000 - specs and aftermarket tuning, interview with owner D. Tung - YES
Supra - specs and aftermarket tuning, interview with owner J. Galante - YES
Supra/S2000 at Willow Springs - YES
Host Closing the show - YES (she did really well in the closing, I thought she did best here. Thought of her like a “Vanna White”, but this show needs a “Pat Sajak” a leader for when she doesn’t feel comfortable. She looked awesome in the Modified Magazine tank top.

OK so thats how I felt initially. Overall not a bad show. I’d watch it every Saturday. BUT something said in other threads by a member of the staff on this show does make one feel like..... I shouldn’t like it. Anyway keep it up. Maybe hire a male figure (not being chauvanistic here) to lead the show while the car model chimes in occasionally and looks nice. Definatley get a project car as mentioned in other posts and build a drift car on a budget (under $7,500). If anything else comes up.. Ill chime in.

Wasn't bored but I read this site daily. Just never joined. After a few weeks of reading about how RedlineTV will suck. Then aweek of hearing how bad it sucked and how Craig L. sucks and so forth, I decided to watch it for myself and take notes on what I liked and disliked. So I can form my own arguement on this topic. I felt obliged to post that long post, it took 30 minutes to watch the show and a few minutes to type it. Not a big deal.

I didn't catch the 1st episode either, and from the 2nd one.... i dunno what to think....

besides it seems like i kept looking at the clock to see when it would be over. the commercials seemed to last longer than the segments. courtney day is just eye-candy, she's a crappy host.
the show kind've reminds me of a glorified commercial. its like their show is just back issues of modified magazine. I'm sitting there watching it and thinking to myself (yeah, show me something i haven't seen before)

all and all i was kind've dissapointed.

hopefully it'll get better with time, like wine.

Yes I agree, the show didn't have anything new. It was like old issues of magazines, dvd's and video footage I see online. I also agree with the commercials, as you can see from my long post... I actually had to comment on the commercial breaks because they were longer than the show overall (it felt, not actually timed, hehe). But it was still more interesting to watch than anything else at 11:30 in the morning today.

Yes I said in my 1st post I took notes on this show, because before hand I knew I was going to make a post about it. Therfore I wanted to write down what I liked about the show. All I did was write yes or no, whoa sooo hard, and pressed record on my VCR whoa soo hard. I kinda thought after I posted that I would get negative reaction for actualy trying to break the show down nto segments so they (Redline) can see what works and what doesn't in my opinion.

i think that was a good way to review the show. i saw it but only paid attention to the segment with moto and alex and drifting... as soon as they started talking about the supra and s2000 i was turned off... the skyline part was okay... skyline isn't all that. but the idea of putting more coverage on jgtc was much appreciated.

i'd say talk/show more about drifting... better angles and less of that flashy stuff it gives me a headache to watch all that. feels like im in a club room full of strobes and tripping on acid. and longer clips instead of short 1 second drifts... and get original footage... dont use other peoples stuff.

more into the jgtc coverage and go indepth. things that we wouldn't know.

personally i'd prefer not showing those two cars at the end... not my cup of tea. if i wanted to learn about that i'd read a magazine.

and courtney i dont care much for her but it doesn't bother me that she's hosting... i guess let her just relax and get used to the show and hopefully she'll feel more natural. i'm not watching the show for her.... if i wanted boobers i'd watch porn. however... it might be cool if you had two girls... =D naw jp...

but yea... i guess in the automotive entertainment industry... there isn't much you can do... its all already been done.

i'd really like for tips and tricks section... little tidbits that drifters use to help them out for either mechanical or driving usage. like... i guess its a ghetto-rig segment, for example like taping the steering wheel so you know where the center of the wheel is etc. things that aren't common knowledge but people use and are actually helpful, or like how you can take the button on the back seat of a corolla gts seat and use it as a spin-turn knob on the ebrake..

in the end i wouldn't go out of my way to wake up early or get home or something to watch it in its current presentation... i'll probably watch it if there was nothing else to do or i'm letting my breakfast digest.

OMG a ghetto-rig segment would be awesome. Im sure its a lot of secrets you can do in your garage. With budget items found easily in nonauto shops (home depot), or flea markets, junk yards. Show folks how easy it is to work on their own cars. I would like that.

oh yea... i forgot about the rhys millen part... i guess that was okay. he seems like a cool guy. i heard he got booed once because he was driving an american car... that was pretty immature.

the gto seemed okay too i guess. however personally i dont see how that could apply to us. its nice to show its a factory sponsored etc... but i dont think many of us could afford the expensive muscle car.

oh btw if redline does that ghetto-rig idea... they have to mention my name! please! my name is david yi. have to be like "thanks to david yi for this idea"

                            =D

shoot they could have me up on that show... and i could present how to do the rigging. i have a few tricks and stuff... but i dont think it would last long enough for a season if the show went on that long. maybe they could have like a email submission where you send in your tip/trick and i'll show the rest of the audience how to do it.

i think i'm good looking enough to be on national tv.

however there is one thing i think the producers should keep in mind about this show. if its about drifting mostly the drifters are low budget youths who drive japanese economy cars. so we're gonna have little money.

majority of us dont have the cash to flash on expensive equipment. and the things we do spend our money on is stuff we've been saving up for a long time eating ramen for months.

i mean... i dont know about the others... but i dont know alot of people that actually own an engine hoist. the way my friends and i do it is use a tree and hoist the engine out using pulleys. (not original but redneck way as they like to say)

and my puerto rican friends teach me things like using two wrenches if you can't afford to buy a long wrench for the leverage on those tight bolts and nuts.

so think about what you're showing. showing cool toys and stuff is all awesome but maybe if you showed us stuff that some of us could afford and do personally it'll be more worthwhile to watch the show. although there might have to be a safety disclaimer about the things you see on the show.
