well the Rotary Power car was (I guess is partially sponsored) because Mazda shipped their car out to sonoma for them

One thing is Mazda isnt directly putting out a car.. theres no Mazda speed rx8 for example.

i mean theres no Mazdaspeed backed RX8 in formula D in other words, theres no factory backed mazda.

I got what u meant.... not just any mazdaspeed rx8.... *slaps forehead* hahaha but I think mazda backed Rotary Power a little, by getting them up there so they'll support them...

Anyways, I'm all for Sam getting a new car...

His car is designed for Le Mans endurance racing... It's a car designed to handle gobs and gobs of horsepower. The chasis speaks for itself.

Let's resurrect that thread. Yea, for some reason I just think Sam is cheating in some way...

                Matt.

Gushi whooped Sam in the Laguna Seca Drift Shootout though, so the Viper can be beaten.

I think space played a factor in Laguna. The viper was a little too big and didnt have much room to play with. I saw the same thing with Rhys.

                    • But gushi broke in the last d1 and crashed this time around...( i want details on that.. what happened???)

Gushi was our hope.. but once again mechanical issues... One thing about mopar is they can deffenately keep that viper running alot easier then gushi and his dad's shop can keep a S13 in good shape.

My hope was the El Camino...

                        Derek Rogers didn't qualify...

                        Matt.

                        • Yeah I guess space was an issue. Well anyways, someone tell Hubinette to get his own car to race with! (And not a viper). I don't even think that Mopar Viper meets D1 regulations.

                          • Formula D, I believe, has no relations with D1 Grand Prix...

                            • Yeah, I know. I was just saying for example that the D1 drivers in Formula D (like Fixmer) use their own cars that meet D1 regs.

                              • the motor in the viper is completely stock at 500 hp and hes runnin 315's out back. i had a chance to talk with mopar's team manager today right before qualifying & he didn't seem to care abou any of the other cars except the GTO. the muscle car wars are back on my friends.
also the silver supra (dont remember the driver's name) was only running on one turbo the entire comp & that miata is just a demo/advertising car(from mazda america) that they ripped the interior out of, bolted in a cage & went drifting with.

i still think it would have been pro to see one of those formula mazdas break it loose tho.
