  • Chris Rado, SPORT COMPACT CAR "Getting the Whole Drift"

Hey, I'm reading the latest issue of Sport Compact Car, and I wanna know who has read Christian Rado's column this month. I just wanna get you opinions on what he wrote. And he mentioned us!

P.S. Did anyone on this site write the letter that's in his column?

Yes, i am pretty sure the letter they found was from a user here. Anyways, a few months ago Was being hated here due to his arrogant comments about drifting, and how he'll be good at it next year. Anyways, search for a title names "Drifting is easy according to Chris Rado" thread.

It's a hella long thread, so brew some coffee and prepare to sit on your buttt on reading the whole thread. he he.

In my opinion... He released his statement to the press, to "try" to clear his name.

Now, Let's just see what he got on the track.

And I'm pretty sure after that release, he's looking at this website, to see if anyone will react to his statements. Because they're pretty strong words, regardless to amount of hate he put up with from the previous thread.

          New Sport Compact Column

          Hey Guy,
I just got a call and I heard that my new column has hit the streets..I have not yet seen the final final version yet and I know they cut a lot, obviously I had a lot I wanted to talk about and some other topics I wanted to touch on but I made it very clear to the editorial staff how important this was to me and so I'm hoping they haven't changed anything but just maybe just shortened it a little. Anyway I appreciate everyone taking the time to read my BS and I hope you guys can understand where I'm coming from. But I sitting in a cube at the Atlanta Airport punching keys and I'm running late for a flight to Vegas then back to Dallas for testing tomorrow after meetings in Vegas so I looking forward to hearing comments and thoughts on the column I will be checking back when I get to a hotel later in Vegas BABY!!
P.S. I still really excited to go drifting... so can't wait to see guys out there.

P.S. I think this is the first "public" statement he has made about what people have said about him and drifting.

Chris, I met you at HIN in Dallas. I talked with you about you and NHRA.

Anyways, I found you to be a very nice and friendly guy. Someone to easily approach and talk to. I was considering asking you about you entering drifting in a truck, but I decided against due to the environment.

I think it's cool that you decided to enter drifting.

Why didn't you do any drifting this season with FD Rado?

                  Matt.

Hey what's up Matt, I wish I could get time to do anything this year like I said in the column D1 at Irwindale was the first event I was ever able to physically get to and I brought all my driving equipment suit,helmet,shoes,etc.. to the race both days just hoping to get a couple laps to get my feet wet. But I wasn't that lucky and I can understand other drivers not trusting someone thats new to them and their sport to drive their car still all the same it's not so bad to hope. This NORAD FWD car is sucking the life blood out of me and my team, but we're getting there I just got back to Dallas last night at 1am and we are putting the car back together aaaaaaaaagain right now so we can go dyno more today and test tonight. We have a big event this weekend in NJ so not really time to even wipe my *Censored**Censored**Censored* so I starting to really stink by now but that OK it's all to go fast right? Anyway I just lack time, and that's why I would have to get some drift events scheduled so THAT's where I have to be, which would be really great but all in time. I have a lot of obligations to sponsors right now and no free time throught Dec so still trying to figure it out.
I'll be there though? So when at the show where we talking?
                    Later Bro,

I'm hanging out with the Drift Alliance guys. Those guys kick way too much *Censored**Censored**Censored*...

Anyways, I was hoping that you would be actually drifting. Is your car going to be ready for next season?

I was out there at the NHRA event that Sunday after HIN Dallas. I was the one who asked if you were going to be running. Anyways, I'll say hi if I ever see you at Irwindale...

Do you still have that mohawk?

                      Matt.

The Hawk is still flying high.. I still don't even have the truck I'm still waiting to get the dollar car they are not available yet so all I can do is slide around in my street cars until that day comes. What did you think about my columns? Did you think I was trying to insult the scene? Thanks Matt-

Honestly, you didn't come across too well. That column shouldn't have mentioned Drifting.com or any other magazine. Heck, the previous issue of Modified Magazine had a whole column about drag racing drivers crossing over to drifting...

I read the column and jumped on the forums ASAP to see how people would react to you... I, after meeting you at HIN Dallas, however did not doubt you or your ability to drive. Nor did I see your malintent...

BTW, I think you should ignore the flamers on these forums whenever you decide to venture into drifting... These forums have been known for flame...

Anyways, why didn't you pick a better car like a Lexus IS300 (I haven't seen much of this car on the track), SC400, Or any Lexus coupe or car...? I know you have plenty of experience working on Toyota motors... Why the truck?

BTW, is Dave Colman going to be at Irwindale? You have to introduce me.... He's been my #*%@ing hero since I was 17... I went into Mechanical Engineering because of the mother #*$%er...

                          Matt.

The part I liked in the rebutal columb was that there is no magic art to drifting. Drifting like all other forms of driving are scientific in nature. That being said, practice is were the human element comes into play. Some people just learn quicker than others. Drifting is NOT voodoo.

So you're telling me that all the Voo Doo stuff I was learning at the track is all a lie?

I thought there was this magical technique called oversteer which let me drift...
