  • Thinkin about sellin the Rx7

Dont know why but i'm just getting frustrated with it. Every time i fix it somthing else breaks. I love the car to death but i just dont have the money to keep it alive for much longer. Bring a tear to my eye. But anyway i'm thinkin about getting a '89 or so 240sx hatchback.

    Nooooo!!!!!

I'm an Rx-7 owner so I may be biased, but I don't think you should sell it. Try finding a rotary specialist to help you with all your problems. I live in the middle of nowhere and there's a rotary professional near me. They may be able to suggest some preventative maintenance. I love roatries. I'd keep it. That's my .

keep it. all cars cost money.e.g my 92 240 blew up the motor becuase of internal oil leak got new motor in, like 6 months later lol and the timing chain broke(da&*it). timing chain alse decided to chip some cams and then now a hole in the valve cover, and bend some heads. then after that was all fixed the oil pump broke grrrrrr. currently in shop getting fixed. my 350 breaks more than that and its brand new(check out 350zmotoring.com for all the F*ed up z's lol). Lucky new cars have waranty lol. GL and keep at it, but go easy on the car untill everything is replaced.

Well there are no rotary specialists around here. I'm practacly one myself since i know the fixes for ever problem the car has. Just dont have the money to fix them. My car has 164,000 miles on it and keeps givin me issues. Even the wiring harness is going out and i know the main power wire right off the battery has corrosion. I dont have the time and money to pull all the wiring and redo it all. So its either. Keep the car. Get a 240sx. Or a MR2 N/A. Any more comments?

Is that 164,000 on the engine? or just the car? If it's the engine then you need a rebuild bad. I bet you could find plenty of parts cheap at salvage yards. You never know, you might get a really good find. But if you do decide to get a new car, I'd choose the 240. Good luck whatever you do.

Yea one comment. Never buy an MR-2 NA. Unless you want to get eaten by any car outhere. Trust me, an MR-2 NA is looks only, it lacks power tremendously! You better off with a 240SX. But before I tell you to sell your RX I'd like to see a pic. Well, is it rusted? Are you back panels ok? I mean if the car is not rusting keep it. And as for your engine, at 164k miles, be ready to put a new one in soon, it'll blow up in your face soon. Sad but true.
I'm already at my third engine in my 7 and rebuilding my second one with 3mm apex seals for improved reliability. When this one blows up, I'm putting back my second rebuild engine in. Now that one will last for 200k miles I hope.

7's need attention and care, and money....It should be in the glove compartement book when you buy the car.

RX7 are whores but they are worth it imo. I say keep it, unless it's rusted. Then just cover it and sell it.

              Spec.

                  Looks in good condition man.

                  Two words:

                  Keep it.

                  Period.

                  Unless the budget really disagrees.

Good!! Glad you are going to keep it. As Spec says (and I like this) RX-7's are whores. I like to embelish a little and say they are WHORES!!!! SLUTS!!!! TRAMPS!!! and all those dirty words that you use to describe them. I like to think of mine as a bad relationship. You know the one where the woman treats you badly and you fight all the time. I fight mine daily. But she puts out and when she puts out, she REALLY puts out. All is better then. Lucky you, you got a second gen. I got a third gen and my whore is the whoriest of all whores to ever whore a whore!!!! I love her but she requires more attn then a person on life support. I mean she needs the craziest stuff for no reason. You know stupid stuff like engines, turbos, wiring harnesses

But I will keep my whore until she can't whore no more. There is nothing like the feel of a rotary. It's like a York peppermint patty commercial. It just feels goooooood.

Well i think i found a guy that will sell me a rebuilt N/A for $900
Just gotta find him. Cars havin trouble starting. Sounds like only one rotar is firing But once it warms up its ok. And i'm having problems with the powersteering pump and oil leaks and flooding constantly. So i'll end up spending more than $900 for it all. Plus it needs a new tranny.... But when its all done it'll be sweet. As somone else said somwhere on this board. Rome wasnt built in a day. Well neither was my Rx7... Thanks for all the input guys! I needed to be reasured.

My Roxy wasn't a whore but I learned to love/hate her just like my car.

                              Scary.
