I hate to say this but I would have to say no. I turned down an R33gtst trade for my FD because it was just too much hassle. If you do get it you are gonna want to drive it WAY more than 7 miles per day. You can register one a whole lot easier on the east coast where I am but since you a west coaster you'd be screwed. I had to turn down the chance of a lifetime because I just couldn't drive it like I wanted too. Mine was already here and about to be released. Plus the drive to Washington state towing the FD would have so sucked I can't imagine it.

Think long and hard before you do that. Yes they are sweet and cool and no-ones got them but are you really going to only drive it 2500 miles a year???? Plus check that rule. That sounds like the Rally rule where you can only keep it in the states for 12 months and NO street driving. Race only is 0 miles on public roads. If it can't meet crash standards and emmisions, they aren't gonna let you on the road. Specially in Cali.

        Good luck whatever you decide.

I think I'd have to agree with the last post. How often do you think the cops are going to pass you by as a right hand driver even if you're a mile over the speed limit? If you think you can pull everything off go for it, but it sounds like a lot of work for the car. I'd put the 10k in something else.

omfg, you weep since you cannot get a skyline at the age of 15...

get yourself together man, paying 200$ a month insurance is ALOT of money, save all that plus you 10k$ and get a supra or even some american musclecar and tune it, will get you to the end of 402m faster and cheaper than the skyline for sure.

as for attention, sure it will bring you alot of looks to drive a skyline, but more and more people will import em and im sure you'd be just as happy with a faster car thats cheaper to run, plus that will get attention from people who care about things that matter

Yeah, thats just the COST of the CAR.

how about insurance? im pretty sure that call will be title to his dad so he can get a lower rate on the insurance, but since he's only 16 with a sports car (a supercar) he's insurance will be higher than $200.00 i know, because i had a supra when i was young, that wasn't cheap, well it had full coverange, unless he wants to get a "LIABILITY" only.

maintenance, turbo charged engines, need to be maintained a lot more than N/A's.

registration... do you think registering a supercar as a show or race would be cheaper? and your in california (FYI: the high registration fee has not been waved yet by Congress).

                    lets see.... the calculation here:

                    insurance: (roughly $300/month X 12 months = $,3,600)

                    Maintenance / parts and labor:
                    (rough est: $50.00/quarter x 4/months = $200.00)

                    registration (rough est
(the $ below is an escalade SUV registration)
                    600.00 /yr

so with rough est: thats like 4,400 a year to keep the car in the US.

Note: thats not including any other suprises, (ei, tires, any legal fees, etc)

                    see what i mean KID.

im not bashing you, i just want to show you a picture on what will happen AFTER you get this car. Unless your RICH as hell and you can afford all the cost after getting the car. In that case, can you hook me up?.. he he. i need new tires

hell i dont even see the richest import racers, drive a skyline.

                    on a personal note:
i too had the opportunity to import an R33 GTR V-Spec. Didn't take it because of the high maintenance status it has.

ya i realized the high cost of insurance and he wants to get me a supra or rx7. i will register undr my dad as a primary driver since he has gotten one ticket(seatbelt) in like 20 years. so that should lower it.

ive seen 1995 supras automatic non turbo for around 10k which is what i want then i can do a engine swap and put in a manual tranny so it will be sexy. i will get a fixer upper for cheap probably.

i dont want only liability because that sucks. how much was it for full coverage for you? if its over $200 a month then i will not get full coverage.

thanks i know skyline is not good for first

dont waste your money on swapping TRANNY, unless you have a hella of a hook up. Just save more money and find a Supra with a manual TRANNY. because you'll spend more in labor and parts on swapping tranny, (UNLESS you have a hella of a hook up).

Anyways insurance with full coverange will round you up to atleast $250 - $300 depends on your insurance company and area. I live in San Diego, the cost of living here is higher than Palm Springs (correct me if im wrong).

WOW 300! i am not getting full coverage. well i can get a engine swap and and tranny installed and i have some friends that own shops and whatnot. so i can get it done for free but i would have to buy the tranny and engine. plus my dads willing to spend maybe a little over 10k on a first car. so i cant really wait to get a manual.

I also know someone that can get cars really really cheap (dont know how, he wont tell) and my dad has friends that go to auctions and stuff so they may find one.

                            legalization

plus, if and when you decide to make it street legal motorex is going to want a min. of 18K to do the work. I called them about a GTS-4 someone was going to sell me for $3500 and when it came down to the knowledge that I'd have to give such a huge amount to a company like motorex I said forget it.

I'm gonna be dead serious with you. Buying anything fast for a person who has never driven on public roads (aka unlicensed teenager) would not be a wise decision. Having said that I want you to know that I'm not downin on you or trying to say that you shouldn't get the car. But you and your parents had better sit down and think long and hard on whether you're mature enough to handle that car in everyday situations. Parents love thier kids and will do anything for them most of the time but, they don't see the potential consequences like a person outside of your family would. I think everyone could agree with me on this point at least.
Too many times I've seen young kids hop in a high horsepower car and get killed or kill someone else cause they couldn't keep a handle on themselves behind the wheel of a DEADLY WEAPON. Puttin a kid behind the wheel of a fast car is like playing with a loaded hand gun.

i totally understand what your saying and you are right many times kids have been kileed by youngins in fast cars. but i have driven many times b4 and a couple times in a 400hp supra. just to say after practice in it and after i got the hang of shifting and controls and etc. my friend took me to a mile long blank street and just said press the gas. i had to gain my self and just hit it. the moment i went over 120 i was like OH S*** OH S*** OH MY GOD!!!! he told me to calm down and not stop. i hit 140 and was screaming. i then stopped and after that he keeps doing that with me making me learn to handle it.

so im not totally unexperienced but i totally understand what your saying. if i get a supra or rx7 i will not race it or go over the speed limit for that matter until i become totally confident with my skill in the car.

                                Thank You for your concern
