sounds like most people are in favor of it...part of me wants to see it and another part doesn't. iz funny tho, cuz i remember when samuel hubinete announced he was going to a domestic manufacturer, the viper, he got flamed. seems like everyone is evolving a bit. speaking of which, since the viper comp coupe is illegal next year, i wonder what samuel will be driving? anyone have guesses??????

I hope he drives it next year. It'll realy stand out unlike another 240SX.

PS - The Mustang looks awesome

the Viper was only signed for one year of formual D. Since the season is over no more mopar or mopar viper. So samuel is screwed even though he did win. But this is what I heard. As for Ken I don't know why ppl hate on domestic drifters. If ken didn't get picked up by ford he would be driving a S14 next year. The Green S13 is wrecked after this past monday's event but he said that there gonna fix it. I mean A car is a car its how you drive it and ken is one hell of a driver. If someone gave you a car and you could do what ever you wanted and have them do what you want to it wouldn't you take it.. Thats what Rhys Millen did with the GTO. Who cares if ppl are drifting domestic cars. I mean I'm a s13 guy my self but. Its not like there competing in japan now are they were in the USA. so if Domestic drifters or FF drifters start coming the track more.. I saw Bring it..

Well, everything I've heard out of the Mopar folks I talk to (yes, the guys supplying USAC midget teams with methanol burning fours talk to the guys who slide Vipers around) says that the DC brass was very happy with the return on investment they got out of Formula Drift.

They put very little money into the series (one car, a few mechanics, and the usual marginal budget for travel/fuel/tires/etc and they nail down three wins out of four events) and became a powerhouse on the circuit. The Mopar guys have been led to believe by the DC brass that there is still the desire to continue the drifting program, but it is being re-evaluated as to which car is most in need of the market/media boost that drifting can give. As such, the Magnum R/T, Charger, 300C SRT-8, upcoming Viper GTS (name pending), and Crossfire SRT-6 are all under investigation by the brass.

I just do not see that happening, plus I also heard as did canuck that he was swithing to s14. Maybe he will be driving the mustang in a Ford commercial or something, but I just do not see that as his new car. Later.
uhmm a rwd car is a rwd car. When your pro, or have skill, you better know how to adapt. Im sure adjusting to a mustang from a silvia it is a lot easier than adjusting to an FD from a silvia.

I can see why Ford wants Gushi, he's young and talented, just like Kurt Busch, their top Nascar guy. I'm glad the Mustang is going to be drifting, but at the same time I'd rather them pick somebody like Chris Kam or Derrick Rodgers who were drifting domestics from the start, as opposed to somebody who's been an import guy his whole life. That's the same way I feel about Rhys and his GTO, I love the car, but he's an import racer/tuner. The idea of somebody that's not loyal to domestics racing them just doesn't sit well with me.

p.s. Ford had Sam on their payroll at one time. He was a test-driver for Volvo.

It's a car it doesn't matter thier background with the nationaility of the make. I know your talking heritage, but you gotta start racing a domestic somewhere. In a similar situation it's like GORDON switching from Go Karts to enter Nascar...

Actually, a better example would be Kasey Kahne. Kasey went from racing USAC and dirt sprints to being Ford's golden hope in CART to his contract being bought out by DaimlerChrysler to put him in the Evernham Dodge.

I think this bodes well for Gushi and Ford, though. A top level factory ride coupled with Gushi's already top drawer talent and draw (he is, after all, one of the most recognized American drifters) will make the Mustang pairing very much one to watch.

i hear the 'stang's dyno'd at 500hp. wait 'til sema. i'm sure that there's going to be lots of interesting drifting news out there.

i would hate to see Gushi in a rustang. but in the end it would be better for him. I wish they would pick somebody like derick rodgers, but i can see why they didn't. he's very good, but not as popular as the GOOSH. personally i don't want gushi to drive for ford b/c he is my hero b/c of age and same car-onevia

yes indeed, i'm very glad the drivers are getting paid. i think this is why the gushi's might take this
