Randy Schmidt nicknamed “RANZO” is one of GRIP VIDEO’s drivers, currently driving the 2nd BATTLE GARAGE RX-7 (FC3S). With 9 years of Drifting experience under his belt in Okinawa and Tokyo, Japan, Randy is ready to unleash his clean and dramatic style in the 2005 Drift Season!
Randy Schmidt, Born in Arkansas July 7 1973. Grew up watching NASCAR, Dirt track oval racing and was an avid fan of any type of Road racing. At 16 got into drag racing. In 1994 the Marine Corps transferred Randy to Okinawa Japan and he got very interested in Drifting and Circuit/Road Racing Japanese cars. In 2000 Randy moved to Tokyo Japan and immediately hooked up with the Touge and drift circuit world. Randy worked with shops in Japan like Winds Auto & Shino Kouba, drifting and racing with many famed Japanese drivers such as Koguchi, and Asamoto.
Randy also competed in Battle Magazine BM hi drift competition.
Randy also became the Vice President of the Tokyo Sports Car Club, competing every month in Gymkhana type autocross obtaining many wins.
