I dont agree with you on your first statement about american cars in drifting, but I respect your opinion and wont resort to personal attacks to relay mine.

why has ford adopted the gt-r emblem? is it just a badge presented by the racing community or something? i thought it had something to do with nissan.

That is what I meant, thanks for agreeing with my opinion of no personal attacks. I am not asking anyone to agree with my opinion of american cars just I think flamming is a dumb-waste of time. Anyway, I hope that Ken Gushi does great in the mustang and wish him the best. Later.

Sorry dude but you have been showin alot of anger around towards gushi. The ford is nice, I (as you can tell by name) am a nissan person as well, but if it wasnt for ford, nothing would have 4 wheels and a motor, NOTHING. So be grateful, cause they've been around longer than anyone so they probally know what they're doing.

Oh and the "GT-R" emblem as you put it is just GT i think, and theyve had it since the 1965!

You see, what some of you dont seem to understand is that the driver has very little say as far as what type of car they're gonna be driving when they get a sponsorship like this. You guys seem to think that the driver is calling all the shots. In reality its the complete opposite. The sponsor calls all the shots and the driver drives. Hating on a driver because of his sponsor is straight up ignorant. Ken was given an oppurtunity and he took it, good move in my opinon, regardless of what type of car he drives or who sponsors it. If you feel so strongly about not being sponsored by Ford, then maybe you can go quality for the D1, get offered a sponsorship by Ford, and then turn it down.

Drifting is not turning into NASCAR. That is your own misconception that you are giving yourself based on your dislike for certain sponsors. Drifting and NASCAR have absolutely nothing in common. Face it, drifting is the newest extreme motorsport and the popularity is growing. From a marketing standpoint, any auto manufacturer or auto part manufacturer that is not getting involved is missing out. The overhead is low and the exposure is high.

              Dont hate, appreciate.

on my way to school this morning in the nastiest weather i saw one of the new gt's and i almost wet myself,i wish i had the money so i could buy one bc if they run them for a short time i know theyll become a collectors car.anyways you cant argue how great a v8 would be for drifting,if they turbo it theyre gonna get quick spools and LOTS of power, they supercharge it theyll get an even quicker spool and a good bit of power, and theyre always gonna get more power all motor.since ford is backing this car itll be something pretty impressive ill assume, the gushis are great drivers too so i think this will probably be a match made in heaven.

It's amazing that the only person on this board that agrees with me is 15. Drifting is going to turn into another fad that becomes another stretchmark in Ford and GM's oversized wallet. Still, it's not Gushi's fault, because anyone would have taken the huge sponsorship that Ford's giving out. Kinda like filming a porn shoot with Carmen Electra. It may be against your morals, but not many people are gonna turn her down.

I dont think it will become a fad, when nascar came out it was just a bunch of guys with cars go around in circles, than when the companys like ford and chevy came out, the sport grow to what it is today, so I'm not sure if it will do anything bad.

PS-Anything that goes 200mph in a 2mile oval is ok with me.

I hate liars. Show me pics and video of you, your car, and you "drifting" or don't even bother.

Also I don't mean to say its terrible, it just seems alotta american cars are now getting into drifting. It's funny how they wanted nothing of it in 1980's for touge or 90's when a few events started up, but now they want it since it is popular and making huge bucks.
You say this like there has never been an American car built to handle. They didn't call it the touge, but there has been circuit racing outside of nascar for years. The second oldest race in America is the Pikes Peak Hillclimb, for christ's sake. Hillclimb? Touge? Hrm.

Drifting is up and coming, and Ford wants to gain involvement for all the obvious reasons. I don't see anything wrong with that, as they are providing all you kiddie's favorate guy with a decent car to drive, and will probably send him 2 more if he keeps smashing them up like he was. What you don't understand is that his personal finances are limited, where Ford can spend 500,000 or a million on this season and it's still a bargain compared to other forms of advertising. He's probably a happy camper right now, and you should be too.

I just don't think it is that cool what they are doing. Dude if your any kind of adult you will not start a stupid flamming war and just put your opinion down. Later.
Take it as a flame if you want, or take it as a chance to prove the resident jackass wrong, but I don't believe you can drift worth beans. I think you are making silly claims for a kid with less seat time total then I have in the last month just driving to work. I'm ranking you with scirocco right now, actually.

I wish this joint had a ring. I'd take you to the ring in a heartbeat.
