  • The Mongooze. Intro

HI guys, I'm kind of late to the forum, Got tired of my local forum, looking for a new one with serious drivers so heres my intro/build.

My name is Harvey, Been drifting for over a year now, Hitting up all the south florida events.

First a little background. I got this car 3 yrs ago as an NA with 193k. Drove it about a year till I finally decided to do a tt conversion, shortly after the destruction began. Twin Turbo swap which took me nearly a year due to sourcing parts and information. I would like to thank you all for information provided in this forum which has helped me with this swap. I did the swap with basic mechanical skills, After the swap I decided to go to Universal Technical Institute and am now a Tech at Nissan. During school I got heavy into drifting which is what the car is built for. This is my z32 drift car that I do plan on competing with.

snapped toe rod in half, bent traction rod, bent lower control arm, bent ruca rod end...the ruca survived!! wicked tuning ***! eh would prefer spl but held up pretty good for the price

Since the engine is out I'm going to be doing alot things to it, Manual transmission turbos/cams (automatics were slighty smaller, "wasn't your car a five speed?" yes but I got screwed when I bought it and swapped it)
Gasket matching, cleaning up, misc removal if useless components, tt rack swap, power steering cooler, suspension stuff, custom fab ,etc. Stay tuned lots of good stuff coming!

Here's some pics of the destruction.

      mmmm straight pipe.

loaded up and ready to go!

Damn VG's gotta pull the motor just for an oil change!
Hmmm I guess I drive pretty hard, both mounts were just over a year old. Time for SOLID!!

Here's what's left before she goes to the crusher.

      Signed and ready to go.

Say hellooooo to the new one

Oh Em Gee, Getting this car was a damn adventure and a half! After hustling the car for a better deal for 4 hrs, Couldn't find a uhaul with a trailer, finally found someone to come up and pick it up and the only thing I could get was this. Then I had to wait for him to drive up! UGH.

The car is 1990 Naturally Aspirated. The car in stock form comes with a vlsd and 4.08 gear ratio. I choose the NA platform for many reasons. one lol it being the cheapest and less bs then the turbo. The turbo rear end has a 3.7 gear ratio, 4 wheel steering (even tho it can be eliminated it's still more bs to deal with). Theres also a few minor differences with the turbo that I simply didn't want because im going to be hacking the car up any way. The ultimate Z tho, is the slicktop which is a solid roof, NO ttop. ooooo, but VERY rare and HARD to find....one day.

40' enclosed air conditoned race car trailer.lol.

Shitty Planning. Well, I know now for next time. Took me 13hrs to buy the car.

The kids dad gots a small block chevy 350 in an s10. Pretty dope.

        HotKarl Stopped by.

        gunky manifold

        cluster *Censored**Censored**Censored**Censored*

out with the useless crap, egr delete and throttle body coolant bypass

        Custom EGR delete brackets.

        *Censored**Censored**Censored**Censored*ing Gunk!

        GONE!

        much better

        Parts cleaned up

        and painted
This is my garage helper. lol its a damn duck that pops up everyday and it wont leave for like 20 min!!

Little update, I've been slacking some, parts and time. Piecing the engine together right now. Turbos rebuilt after that, then finishing up front car work. Custom solid mounts being made. Front spindles being "hacked" for added angle. It's coming along, it's just a process.
Manual Turbo/Cam upgrade. Previously was runnig automatic turbos and intake cams. 240 duration as oppose to 248 on 5sp and .53 turbine A.R. as oppose to .63 on manual.

          Engine cleaned and painted.

          Engine bay cleaned and painted.

          Rear Suspension done. SPL FTW!

          More useless crap

Twin Turbo power steering rack. Shorter ratio

          SPL tie rod end spacers

          Brake Cooling Ducts

          Side markers smoked

          Oil cooler/Power steering cooler.
Found this at the junk yard from a volvo 740 turbo for $8 with lines.

cut the ends of the lines off just to use the fittings.
Use a 3/16 hose and viola. Coolers for under $15
          Fidanza flywheel

          New friction plate, Like new

          AMS Lightweight Underdrive Pullay

Update: Motors in pieces, Parts are cleaned ready for port matching, Awaiting on a few items then I shall start piecing it back together.

Meet Ashley, She's my engine stand and she's my whore. lol I say this because since I bought it for my first swap two yrs ago I havnt seen it since now, It been lended to about everyone I know. so its been around.

            Now that's alot of material.

Making room for the brake cooling ducts.

Painted the Mustang FR's bronze, Tell me they don't look like works!

            Stay tuned, more to come
