Thats crazy.. in the beginning when they are driving about 90 mph and with inches of gap inbetween there cars is pretty amazing.. and when they did the spinout and recover it looked like they were sticking out " The finger " every time they would spin...still a awsome vid.. thanks Alex.. You are the best drifter in my book... all bout the flat black hachi

AccordDriftr, the thing that you called the "Spinout" is actually not throwing a car into a slide and recovering it, but forcing it to make 360 while controlling it all the time. It's called an "Aaltonen" from the name of a famous Finnish rally driver Rauno Aaltonen who invented the whole thing.

Keep your eyes on the front wheels - without rotating them he wouldn't do it.

If I was doing a drift project, Mustang GT would be my first choice. They've got no problem spinning the tires right outta the factory, you just have to get some suspension parts to correct the snap-oversteer, and some chassis bracing. Plus they're light too. (around 3200lbs)
If CrazyHawaiian's budget project is any indication (less motor than what the 5.0 had, and heavier), then you could probably drift pretty well on just the stock 5.0HO, and use the money you save on motor mods for the suspension and chassis--the 2 areas where the 5.0 needs the most attention.

yeah, the sterotype thing is hilarious... I cant believe people still think compact imports are the only cars that can drift, and that imports handle so much better than muscle cars or 80-90's drag strip favorites. I mean, of coarse a modern suspension and an IRS is gonna be very helpful in the corners. But to be brutally honest, there arent many imports out there with a half way decent wheel base, thats why any cicuit racing imports always have a wider stance and big fender flares if legal. I dont think enought people even consider things like that when they start talking about power and weight.
Ahh well, nice find, and those high speed flyby's are definately fun to see
*edit* the 5.0 HO mustangs arent really that strong in stock trim. A 4.6 modular will pull harder with les displacement and pretty crappy stock tuning. But a 5.0 has a very tough stock bottom end and responds extreamely well to mods. Not to mention it has more available head swap choices than possible engines you could frankenstien into a compact car, Its pretty amazing for an engine that doesnt really have that much more HP than a KA stock.Last edited by AtroXR7; 10-15-2004, 08:59 PM.

Here's the breakdown for non-cobra V8 Mustangs.
87-93's have a 225hp 302s.--------------mid-14's
94-95 GT's have a 215hp 302------------low-15's
96-98's has a 225hp 4.6's----------------low 15's
99+ GT's have 260hp 4.6's d-to-high 13's.
The Bullit GT 4.6 runs high mid-to-high 13's.
As you can see, the non-performance improved 4.6 has about the same performance as a 302. However a performance-improved 4.6 will smoke a 302. The best handling GT's are hands-down the 99'. The 94-'04 Mustangs outhandle the 87-93 Fox bodies handsomely.
The 4.6's are better motors, epecially in trucks. They run longer, are more reliable, and get better mileage than the 302's/351's. The modulars are alot more expensive and much harder to work on than the windsors. There's not as many speed parts for the 4.6's yet, and windsors swap easier. Strength on a 4.6 and 5.0 is simlar. 99+ 4.6 GT's also have an aluminum 4-bolt main motor.
As for easy power, it's cheaper and easier to get with a 302 (just do a head, intake, and cam swap, and pump up the exhaust, and you've got 400hp, even more with a stroker). The one power advantage p.i. 4.6's have over 302's is this: pi's have good enough heads that you only have to port them, you don't have to swap the heads like you would on a windsor.
The 4.6 is starting to supersede the 302 in street performance, especially the new Cobras. Race-wise though, the windsor is still the motor of choice, but 4.6's are gaining.
