The good thing about Fiero's (I've heard) is that it's quite easy to swap in a Northstar V8 or LS1 for some ridiculous power gains.
On the other hand, I've also heard that the suspension on Fiero's had a lot of problems that they supposedly fixed in 1988. Also, a mid or rear engine car likes to send the back end around a lot harder and faster than an FR, this makes it easier to start the drift, but a lot harder to control it. From what I've seen, a skilled driver can drift just about anything with some practice and tweaking, but if you're looking for a starter car a FR setup is your best bet.

Go to www.fierostore.com and look at their koni suspension. I have them on both of my fiero's. The web site also has books on setting up the car for racing. check the site www.v8archie.com
