  • Police are not always out to get you.

As I browse through the forums I see an alarming trend of people talking about getting harrassed by the Law. I cannot say that I understand this because most of the cops that I meet are rather cool. They are normal people that are interested in the same things that the rest of us are. Sure you get a few of the Terminator types, but they are usually rookies and have not yet aclimatized to their station. I have met many Law enforcement officers in my travels and 95% of them are just as interested in fast cars as you are. They would also be interested in talking to you about your car but odds are you were doing something wrong for them to stop you so.......

Case in point. On my return trip from Atlanta last evening I pulled into a little town called Cleveland Tenn. There was a car wash across the street from the gas station that I was at and it was filled with the locals. They had lowrider trucks, Lowriders, imports, R.C. cars and 2 local Police. Everyone was harmonious and they all got along. The 2 policeman came over to speak to me about my car and it turns out one of them owned a 94 FD. Super cool guy who has run the dragon on his bike as well as in his car.
They gave me no hassle, no attitude and they even crawled on my trailer to check my engine out. It was cool. I also met a couple locals and they were cool as well. So all was good. Another officer that I know actually took me for a ride in his Mustang cruiser, performed a 180 at speed and turned the lights on frightening the crap out of some older couple. All for no reason other than to show off.

So before you all write off the Law dogs as Import haters and hasslers, give em a chance. Don't do anything wrong and you won't get hassled. Also remember, Cops are people too. They will have as much fun doing something wrong as you and I will. They just have better impulse control than we do. I rarely get any trouble from the Law. I speed and do the same things that you all do (on a closed course of course) and I have them wave at me. But then again, I talk to them whenever I can. It's all about how you approach them. My first words to the Cleveland Tenn guy were "Wanna run that thing" refering to his Squad car. If you treat them with respect and don't act all shady around them, they will return the same and you will be amazed at how cool they can be.

One time I got pulled over for not stopping at a stop sign even though I stopped at teh stop sign, but It's aight. The second time I got pulled over for my tail lights not working and going a little over speed limit cause my guage lights didn't work either. Only got a ticket teh second time and even then I just had to fix it and show them and pay $12 fee of some sort. THe second cop that pulled me over has a 1980s Mazda RX-7 Savanna and that surprised me. I wish I could see it. That bastard with his hella nice car. Anyways. No harrassment here.

Some people are just paranoid and need someone to blame their problems, at that usually is the police since"i was doing nothin and he stopped me for no reason". Cops do this all the time, they are making sure you are safe and will act in a safe manner to other drivers. Now i know a few cops who are ...well..."nice" Almost all are great guys doing their jobs and making sure you are safe. There is a reason that police give tickets for illegaly modified cars. They are a hazard to other people. Likle Ghost said. Most caops will sit and talk cars to you for hours on end. They love cars too (most of them anyway) i have sat with some cops off duty and i was just talking to them about the newset exotics, then we went into drag racing then into the classic muscle cars. and before i knew it 4 hours has passed. It felt like 1 hour.
In conclusion, don't hate cops because they tagged you for somethiung that you caould have avoided. It will (not always but 99.9%) always be your fault. they are here for your safety.

you'd be surprised what some peole have in their garages. I don't think it's that unbelievable. you can buy a 91' NSX that has been taken care of for like 28-30K, it's just an old car that was never in very limited production (Still low numbers though) instead of that new truck you could get a new old NSX. think about it.

True.Sport Compact Car had an NSX buying guide a few months back.Nice cars, just a little too overpriced for what they're packing. But hey,if you want to get the ladies,an NSX can do it.

i love NSXs. they are one of my favorite cars. just seems odd that a car such as that that came from japan, with supercar like looks, and speed never came with any forced induction. then again it is a honda so they are big on high-reving engines that scream like no tomorrow ( i for one like those engines) i guess what i am saying is that for the looks and the fact it came form Japan it is a bit surprising that it is not turboed or something ( just generalizing since the Big 5, skyline, supra, rx-7, impreza, and Evo...i know silvias too) all have turbod engines (high end models)

No body complimenting the police is from california.

I understand not all cops are jerks or whatever, in fact Local sherrif at my town is pretty cool, Local PD is pretty cool too. Nice guys, there to help.

However, I have had more problems with California Highway Patrol then anything. Now i've met one really cool patrolmen up north. Coincidently i met a jerkass local PD up north the same day. Buddy was hit going to a car show. no one was hurt, cop treated us like suspects and the whole scene like a crime scene. Hell he even drove by the accident site twice on his motorcycle as i tried to wave him down to ask for assistance. He was there to write tickets for racing because the car show, and didnt want any *Censored**Censored**Censored**Censored* from us.

But CHP in california are basicly tax collectors, they are worked to bone and pressured to wright as many tickets as possible, and nothing brings in more money then a young guy in a imported car (we are all racers sence fast and the furious came out)

There not all jerks, some, perhaps most are pleasent, But there are indeed a number of jerks working for the CHP. Afterall gotta get those tickets wrote to pay for there own pay check.

Afterall we are in such a financial situation in this state that we elected a body builder turned mediocer actor governer. He even brought his 'running man' bus to bakersfield for a rally... in running man he is sentence for committing the "bakersfield masicure" kindof funny how that works out huh?

(note bakersfield is often mentioned and indeed used in films and movies, same as fresno, its north of los angeles thus some mysterious place people have heard of, but not seen)

i just hate the eagle head jerks who got picked on in high school so they go all swat team on you to make up for it ( i used to skate alot so i may be a tad bitter ). but I have also learned that if you are cool to the cops and treat them like a fellow person then you may find out that they are pretty good people.

Yes were like a bigger less low rider friendly wasco. Much bigger. 270,000 people in the city limits makes it bigger then oxnard/ventura area.. And theres about that many people outside the city limits in the rual areas and sattelite cities.. So its not a small place. We just happen to live in California with huge cities.. So we wind up being the biggest of the Small cities, or the Smallest of the Big cities.
