As I browse through the forums I see an alarming trend of people talking about getting harrassed by the Law. I cannot say that I understand this because most of the cops that I meet are rather cool. They are normal people that are interested in the same things that the rest of us are. Sure you get a few of the Terminator types, but they are usually rookies and have not yet aclimatized to their station. I have met many Law enforcement officers in my travels and 95% of them are just as interested in fast cars as you are. They would also be interested in talking to you about your car but odds are you were doing something wrong for them to stop you so.......
Case in point. On my return trip from Atlanta last evening I pulled into a little town called Cleveland Tenn. There was a car wash across the street from the gas station that I was at and it was filled with the locals. They had lowrider trucks, Lowriders, imports, R.C. cars and 2 local Police. Everyone was harmonious and they all got along. The 2 policeman came over to speak to me about my car and it turns out one of them owned a 94 FD. Super cool guy who has run the dragon on his bike as well as in his car.
They gave me no hassle, no attitude and they even crawled on my trailer to check my engine out. It was cool. I also met a couple locals and they were cool as well. So all was good. Another officer that I know actually took me for a ride in his Mustang cruiser, performed a 180 at speed and turned the lights on frightening the crap out of some older couple. All for no reason other than to show off.
So before you all write off the Law dogs as Import haters and hasslers, give em a chance. Don't do anything wrong and you won't get hassled. Also remember, Cops are people too. They will have as much fun doing something wrong as you and I will. They just have better impulse control than we do. I rarely get any trouble from the Law. I speed and do the same things that you all do (on a closed course of course) and I have them wave at me. But then again, I talk to them whenever I can. It's all about how you approach them. My first words to the Cleveland Tenn guy were "Wanna run that thing" refering to his Squad car. If you treat them with respect and don't act all shady around them, they will return the same and you will be amazed at how cool they can be.
