I understand where ya coming from man... i would have seen a lot less fatalities if more people knew about drifting, hell my brother might still be alive today if the guy he was ridding with knew how to drift. But all im saying is.... if your gonna practice... learn somewhere safe.


As far as profiling goes.... believe it or not profiling has been going on since forever... Hey that car looks fast.... chances are he's gonna speed.... its common sense , its nothing new. Me personally ive never pulled over an "import car" because it fit the profile. Because then id have to pull over ever muscle car, sports car, etc.... that i see.

Silverghost, heres the reason why most police departments try to discourage kids gathering in groups with their cars..... kids get together with their cars..... Someones gonna say somthing like.... hey bet i can do that fast and the furious stuff! Someone ends up not going home that night.... it sucks but thats how it is.

Theres a thousand "what ifs" but i dont need to go into that, Cause at one point weve all seen someone acting stupid and said.... Look at that jackass..... never a cop around when ya need one.

I have just signed up 2 weeks ago at MC MOTORSPORTS, Next to the perth international airport, & i can drift there almost everyday if i wanted to. The longer section of the track is for pro drifters,
The short section is for beginners.

well in the US ....private property...police have no domain unless called by the owners.

so you could do a burnout all day long in front of a cop on private property but only get introuble if you leave the property with your tires smoking or the OWNER of the property calls it in.

If pulled this out on the police multiple times when i am teaching new kids the basics, and they know that just as well as we do. One thing you guys might wanna do is go to the police or the statepatrol and get information on all private property and the laws concerning it in your area. REASEARCH CHILDREN!!! it pays off i do it in every state i move to, its saved my butt multiple times.

A lot of it has to do with the strict-ness of the law enforcement in your area. Ideally, if a cop sees a kid getting to know the limits of his car in a parking lot, he would simply give him a warning if it's private property and that next time he won't be so lucky.

The police are great, but I really don't like the fact that when they're tired of looking for perps, they sit on the nearest street corner to pull over the guy with the burnt-out running light.

what ever happens, You cant even take off from the lights without them thinking that you are trying to drag, (123 here it goes again,) I even saw 3 1200 HP twin turbo v8 commodores
being trailered to the recent street machine car showoff in canberra, The cops OVER looked the cars and straight away defected them, I was like SH&$, If its driven on the streets of course ya going to get pulled over. If the car is on a transport trailer then they cant touch you if the car was built for show, I can't emphasise just how much stress the police put us thru, But all i can say is, They thrash there cars as much as we ever will, There not mechanically minded, I just hope this reaches
everyone.

accidental drift

some cops need to realize the occasional usefulness of drifting. When I leave my school's lot, the driveway is super narrow. If there happens to be car on the other side stopped. I floor it, hit the e-brake and slide the rear around. I did this once and our cop got all pissy cause I 'squeeled my tires'. That and I cause I usually lay rubber on Friday afternoon.

PS: I drive a Lancer, not an Evo (I dont have that kind of money) Before this I drove a Jeep Grand Cherokee. Part of not being caught is driving a car that is nearly impossible to do anything illegal with. Plus it takes more skill than a 240 or Skyline or any RWD car.

I got pulled over for reckless driving while leaving school. I spun my tires and all of a sudden 2 sheriff cars were boxing me in. Luckily there was sand on the ground and that helped my case in court. I was released with 10 hours community service.

what are you talking about takes more skill than driving a 40? Are you talking about ur ff lancer or your jeep?? kause in both cases ur very ignorant. Now i am not saying that 1 car is easier to drive than the other, but it comes down to the owners driving preference, than it breaks down to the mods done to the car. Just think before you start posting ignorant things like that.

couple of things:

first off, hasnotyresleft, what is the best way to get permission from a place to drift on their lot/ how do you present it to the cops if they show? (i am asking you cause you are a cop, so i figured you would at least have some idea)

second, ive been busted at school for drifting before too. it was pretty ugly, but i survived.

third, hexadec0079, driving/drifting a jeep cannot be anywhere compared to driving/drifting a 240sx for a few reasons. one reason is drifting a jeep requires snow or rain, and a 240 does not. another is the speed of the drift. you cant slide a jeep at much more than 50, while a 240 can stick a slide at 80+ easily. last off, a jeep tops out at about 115-120 while a 240 can be anywhere up to and beyond 150 (these are all MPH figures, not kph). thinking how do i know this? well i have done all of those things in both of those cars. i used to drive a 96 Grand Cherokee 5.2L V8, and now have an SR20DET powered RPS13, and i used to drift it with the stock KA24DE....open diff

Allow me to explain

What I meant was that a Jeep's higher center of gravity and increased weight, and the Lancer's FWD underdrive tendencies make them harder to drift than a ny RWD drive car
