Okay, but why not a colored section on the tachometer?

Dude.. did you not understand what he just explained to you? It has a warning light. You can set the light to go off at any RPM you want. Oh ... and guess what else? When you are actually drifting you are not spending all that much time staring at the tach.

I know, you listen to the engine's pitch, but the thing is, with a highlighted section, it's just easier to just "glance" at. The thing is, using a warning light is not that convenient at all. In fact, it would seem more annoying then a traditional colored tachometer.

tommy, I am still in Beijing now. I love it here. We have started a drift school and are working on a lot of cars. We have a few demos lined up and I am still working on having a big event later this year. Any time you wanna come out here you know you gotta a place to stay and a friend who can show you the true Beijing. ( not the tourist B.S.)

A warning light will catch your attention if you're not looking directly at it. A colored section will not. And since you actually spend very little time redlining the car while drifting, hitting the shift points isn't particularly crucial. You keep the motor speed and the gearbox where you need it for that particular turn and (at least for me) that's usually only at about 3-4k rpm even though my rev limiter is set to 6k.

All you really need to worry about is overrevving the motor and hurting it.

+1. Most engines torque band is not at the top of the RPM's. If you take a look at most Dyno sheets, you'll see that after some where between 50% and 70% the torque starts to drop off. One reason why larger engines have a major advantage. Smaller engines need to be higher in the torque band. With less power, if they drop they can't make it back up. One reason why the 4A engines have a bit more mechanical problems than larger engines.

Nice looking car mate. That blue looks pretty sweet on it. I didn't see, but I'm curious what tranny your running on that thing? If it's the Nissan 5 speed, I'm curious how well the mounts lined up.

Also what rear end are you running?
