umm the only thing i know is that the sr makes bad vibrations when swapped and the torque dampener give you back some of the HP lost with engine vibration so thast deffinatly good,
as far as down sides i have no idea, never heard.....sorry

i really dont feel flamed, it just sucks when you ask a legit question to a forum and the only input you get is lame. sorry, if i was here to bs, i would not be in the tech section

I'm curious about this torque dampener. Is it the same as say the rubber piece they attach between the motor and chassis on the top of the engine on some cars? I assume this is just the shock form of that same thing, right?

Stronger motor mounts would do the same thing, correct? I know this helps keep the shifter from moving around on you when you're playing with the throttle. I guess it's just a matter of what's available for the car as well.

Well An engine torque dampner is something that braces or helps the engine stay placed better under high loads.Kinda like stiffer shocks for better handling during harder connering..Mostly helps the clutch chatter on rx7's

It attached right onto the bolts connecting the tranny and engine Then goes into the side of the engine bay fowards of the firewall about 3 inches...
