    No, the only way you're gonna shoot flames is if you're way rich with no cat. With a cat, you'll hear a pop. The test pipe is meant to replace your cat with something that's supposed to flow a bit better than your stock cat. However, if you live in an area with strict emissions policies, like in CA, the fines are very heavy. A buddy of mine in an WRX got pulled over by CHP since his car does indeed shoot flames when shifting, the cop didn't appreciate it much, checked for a cat, saw nothing and slapped him with a $1,600 ticket, he had to appear in court, had his license suspended until a smog ref cleared his car and then he could go.

    The material of the exhaust is mainly for weight savings/looks, not for shooting flames. You want to shoot flames, go get a test pipe and run rich when you shift (or rev high before you shift).
