L20B's wouldnt drop in normally they take a lot of modifying for a KA. Also you have to take deck height and rod length into account.

I wish you could do that becuase then you could run a longer rod to stroke ratio. KA24DE deck height is 20mm higher than Z22.

i assumed rod lenth would be an issue but if you were doing something that crazy you would probably get aftermarket rods/low comp. pistons. Which ecu would you use witg you ka21. I sthere any cark that would work to destroke the ka24. I was thinking ka2xdet, pauter rods, 8.5 comp pistons, aem ems standalone ecu, Custom intake manifold, some mild cams and not yet sure what turbo kit, maybe an updated version of the greddy with a custom fmic for an s13. What do you think?

Sounds sweet. I was going to use stock KA ECU modified a little. But others have used a Megasquirt standalone ECU. I dont want to go lower compression even though I am going to turbo it. I want 9 or 9.5. Its going to be an autox car and I want good off boost performance.

www.XATracing.com has some sweet kits they just released. I am going to build my own kit though.

tje boostevolution guy posts on 240sxforums.com or midatlantic240sx.com, but his kit is legit, and much chaeper than the fmax or greddy kit. But is there a smaller crank for tha ka24de?

no, they don't get it to be jdm tight. they get it(SR20) because they choose HP over TP (KA24). i hope that clarifies somethings for you, khaos.

what sh!t would you need to turbocharge a ka24de? instead of going to tampa..i think im goin to northern va in either 3 months or 6 months..i need a reliable and somewhat cheap way to turbocharge it...and i dont want the turbo to blow after a few months

I didn't say everybody gets a sr to be JDM tight, i just said some people don't even think about getting it, they just see that other people have it, they have it in japan, and they want it. You know there are people like that

                        - peace

there are so many people like that, thats why i dont want to get an sr. It doesnt really matter since i dont have the money, but if i did i would get an rb20 or 25.

r2k: what you need to get sleeves and etc. for is boring it out, not compression. you are a deush bag (sp?)

I wouldnt want an RB becuase of weight. Maybe not that it s heavier which I am sure the RB25 is but becuase it pushes the weight farther forward. You cant use Datsun cranks in a KA becuase of the crank journals are different. I would use a datsun block and crank and then a put a KA24DE head on it. I would love to make a short stroke KA crank becuase the KA24DE has 20mm more deck height which means you could use longer rods.

In the JR dragracing world people have used thick "head gaskets" to increase deck height but I wonder if you could do this to a car. Make a spacer and then sleeve it so that the sleeve goes down the entire lengh into the spacer. Then get extra long head studs and have them go through the spacer. Just an idea.

this guy on 240sxforums.com wieghed his car with an rb25, completeyl stock except no back seats, otherwise full interior.
                                wieght with 1/2 tank gas:2667
                                weight distribution 54/46

thats still really good, i would like an rb25 so i could have less lag than a sr ao ca.

i was thinking if it wasnt too much money you could get a custom made crank. Since ka 96mm stroke yields a 2.4liter and the sr 86mm stoke makes a 2 liter, a 91 mm stroke would be 2.2 liters, same as an sr with a 2.2 liter stroker (duh). I forget which one but there was an s15 with the apexi stroker kit(2.2 liters) that reved to 8600 i believe. just a thought.
