Hicas isnt FWD, there was never a FWD 240sx. (s13 and s14) there was however a S12 called the 200sx, now heres where confusion comes in the S12 came out in the early 80s, but in the mid 90s nissan released a new car called the 200sx, it was a B14, a sentra, S series chassis are 240sx/Silvias/180sx ect.. just figure the S stands for sports or Silvia or whatever. The B series chassis are the Sentras, i think B for base model
that second 200sx was a FWD. Now back to hicas
Hicas is a All wheel steering technology built into the rear suspension. it uses hydrallic arms to turn the rear wheels several degrees with, or against, the front wheels, depending upon speeds. Alot of guys dont like it for drifting, or dont like it at all. However it seems to be much apreciated on the Skyline GTR which also uses the technology.
Hicas equiped cars are all RWD like all S chassis cars. I once described Auto trannies (which i have) is like having a drunk monkey shift for you... i would imagine hicas might be alittle bit like the drunk monkey tweaking the rear wheels while you drive lol.
i havent drove with one, but that is alittle info on hicas. they are pretty rare though so dont worry.
Now interestingly enough ALL S13s have several degrees of passive rear steering built into the rear suspension. Or so i've been told. Kind of interesting bit of info, and they seem to drift fine.
Originally posted by Mayor but the only thing i'm scared of is when i go check out the cars from the mag is that there all AT Transmition.
unfortionatley you will find mucn much more automatic transmissions then manual. i own/drive/drift a auto.
Keep looking for the Manual, but if you get a good deal on a auto i wouldnt pass on it. Manual swaps are pretty common with S13s. if you want more info may i sugest google, lots of it there on auto to manual swaps.
