im 22 now. I've been driving since i was 16 (this is before the strick rules and permit rules) I've been driving my FF cars fast and i did alot of grip racing here at Qualcomm. I've known about drifting since 2000. Checked out the local japanese supermarket here and they had some mag and vids about drifting and started drifting my FF car. I Found out about ID this year only sucks huh? ha ha... I've been drfiting FF for atleast 2yrs all over town oh at the same time, I've been "bustin 1/4". oh yeah I just got my FC this year also. So I've been driving my FC practically every weekend (shhhhh.. i got my places). anyways.. my dad my bro and me are car nuts. My dad got a 180sx (240sx 1990 US ver.) my bro got a AE (soon to have 4a-G conversion) and i got an FC. I had my time with Hondas but I didn't like it. I like Toyotas/ Nissans and Mazda. Now im a System Engineer in a local corp. here. And im trying to open a legal sanction here in San Diego for drifters. I just dont want Drifting to crash like Street DRAGGING.

Oh yeah. If there's any recruiters out there, thats reading this

would you like to show your support to a local practice session? hit me up

we're one of those young families.

Oh yeah.. my MOM had a 84 SR5 (but automatic) when she was 23. She told me, she really liked that car. But then she traded it for a CAMRY. I didn't found that out, until last year.

Hey-soos, I got in to this one late...

I was raised by bikers! My dad had a custom bike shop in our basement from when I was 3 or 4 till I was in 3rd grade. I was raised on the back of a Harley Davidson. My mom even rides, to this day. Joined the Marines in 95, they made me a mechanic, I was a natural.
Heard about/saw drifting when I was in Japan in 96. Got back and bought an automatic bimmer (was in hurry for a car).
Raced the crap out of it sold it in 98. Bought a truck but wasn't happy, gave it to my best friend when I bought my s-14 in 99 or 00.
I knew better than to drift any of my previous vehicles because I'm a mechanic, an exceptional high speed driver, and I knew drifting required it's own set up to be done properly. So that's why I talk sh!t to noobs/morons that post crap on this board. I share alot of the same sentiments as Nightwalker, but I have more patience.
But know this...if you do post crap/BS on this board, you may sneak it past the teeney-boppers that come and sit at the kids table. But us old dogs that sit at the "Been there, wrecked that" table WILL CALL BULLSH!T!! So don't act shocked and hurt, or pissed off that we did. Take your lumps, and listen up, maybe you'll learn something.
                Have fun late.

my father was always a car guy. when i was i kid i was always outside watching my father rip apart his '67 stang. i had no idea what he was doing to it but i knew i wanted to be able to do it too. fast forward a decade, i get my license and start hangin with the car kids at school. they were all into import cars and mini trucks. i didn't know anything else other than going fast in a straight line. then out came fast and furious and the car scene was flooded with civics with all show and no go. that's when i dedicaded myself to the sleeper style. i just got sick of all the rich kids that got mommy and daddy to pay for their crappy mufflers and rims. i decided that i was gonna get by on my own balls and bones. super2nr tv was on my weekly shows to watch and i had that obsession with speed that import drag racers have, but i knew there had to be something else. then i saw drifting one weekend on the show. it was the coolest thing i had ever seen. i researched drifting through mags mainly and decided on the best car for me. something that i hadn't seen on the street every freaking day. i picked the 95 240sx as the car for me and now all i had to do is work to get the money to buy one so i did. that happened the summer of 2002 and i've been tryin to drift since. wow that was more than i thought i was gonna write sorry, hope you enjoyed it.

back in 1999 I was a JDM fanatic, and I loved the silvia and the 180sx.

I used to buy best motoring videos on ebay, and option mags and everything was about Dori dori.

I first car i ever seen drifted was the Mr2, when the drift king was reviewing the newly released 1993 gen III Sw20 Mr2.

Then I got the Nascar best motoring video, and saw the the drift king drifting stock cars..... I was hooked after that. I never really praticed drifting until recently.

                          • My dad grew up in Jamaica and he was a rally(He had an Escort. Seventy something) driver. He has lots of mid drift pictures, and I always would ignore them as a kid. He would always tell me stories. And when I started drivng, around 13? He taught me 5 speed pretty early, he'd just tell me weird stuff he used to do in Jamaica. And then I discovered drifting because my dad owns a body shop and he got these weird magazines that companies send out for free. And one of them had an article on drifting. I was like, "Omg." And the rest is history.

                            • I actually saw it first when that article came out on Dave Scholz and Slide Squad. Then it died down and saw bits and pieces here and there until I saw ID. Yeap, ID got me excited.

                              • I got into drifting through my friends, they own a Drift Performance shop. I went there one night for a very small car show/late night drift session. My friend Ryan, in his Auto S13 Convertable, whipped it sideways, and I've been hooked since. I was curious to what exactly drifting was, I had seen small I-net vids but never anything in person. I had tried drifting my FC and did great in the rain, then I wrecked that one, now I'm on my second and doing it in the snow is much easier. I found that you can get farther sideways in an FC in the snow than on any surface, I was perpendicular to the road and still pulled it straight. I love my car.

The name of my friends' shop is Works Yamaguchi in Indianapolis, IN.

THey'll have the site up and running again in a couple days, really good guys, tell you straight up, no BS. Love cars, love drifting.
