Drifting puts alot of wear and tear on your car, and I heard that the Eclipse motors suffer from something called crank walk, and the crank will blow out at a little over 100,000 miles.

from what i understand, all transversed engines AWD cars are front biased. That includes the EVO, the STI and the eclipse/talons. I might be wrong, but that would definately make it much harder to drift. Skyline GTRs are supposed to be rear biased but probably out of the price range.

I would follow the advice to get a RWD car if you are really serious into drifting. If you just thought it would be cool, you're in the wrong sport.

the rear diffs on the gsx are so weak you might as well buy 2 spares just in case you blow one out. Well scratch the transmission on a gsx is weak unless you beef them up. Dunno about the newer ones but I know for a fact that the older ones got strong engines but weak transmissions.

I was just wondering. I seen a GSX for sale near my house. I planned on getting a 240, but I seen that and I couldn't help but wonder about them. They are AWD w/ turbo, so I figured it couldn't be that bad.

Wsup. I own a 1g GSX, and I'd say it's much easier to get one of those and learn how do drift.

7 bolt motors suffer from crankwalk which is 4G64 or 2g motors

6 bolt 4G63 motors are found in 1g's and Evo's.

The front bias is not that bad. It's about 60/40. Which isn't horrible.

I can't say that I can drift in mine... but it's a great car to have and is very reliable for me. If you wanna know more about DSM's then check out dsmtuners.com

The WRX STi,and all Impreza's have horizontally opposed engines.I don't know of any Suburau's that don't share that engine layout, which is a famous Subaru trait.

Heh I like my cars 0/90 bias... (the other 10 is lost somwhere in there)... Eclipse is ugly, and everyone and they're brother owns one. I swear I'll stab the next "racer" with a eclipse, exausht and intake... thinking he's a true RACER!

I guess that'll be me. 'cept I got a evo3 big 16, 550cc injectors, 255 fuel pump, AGX's on prolines, hallman boost controller, SAFC, data logger, Dejon tool big SMIC, UICP, new wires, Eprom.

I consider myself a racer... but I hope you're not talkin bout 1g's. They might look a little old school... but so do the 300z's and the S13s. 2G's I can agree with you on, but don't hate on the classic.

It's smiling, even though it's kinda scratched up - it's still smilin and lovin it

the thing you do if you have a awd car, get rid of the front drivshaft and lock the center diff, and you got youself a perfect rwd car.

for GT-Rs you can do the same or you can just take out the chip that controls the awd system from the computer box, thing....but you should get rid of the driveshaft too, less weight on the car

At the Drift Session on Jan 31, someone had an Eclipse GSX out on the track drifting. I dont know what it was like, or what he thought of it, but he was out there doing it. Any car can drift. If you like the GSX, then go for it.
