There are several valid reasons one may use 3rd gear instead of 4th:

    - Maybe he is running a different ring and pinion

    - Maybe he is running a different transmission

    - Maybe he is running a different tire diameter

    - and lastly which I think it is: He has a built motor the has a much higher rev limit and therefore can spin the same gear at much more revolutions...

So judging someone on what gear they are vs. driving ability is presumptuous... The only bench mark one can use is a radar gun and even then it is up to the judges.

    here are some possible reasons

    1) this isnt mandrake falls, and we arent freinds with deeds, and even if we were he bought everyone vettes, not Z's

    2) 90% of the people on here can barely afford S chassis

    3) its way cheaper to build a competitive 240sx.

    4) beating up/wrecking a Z is reallllllllllly expensive

i could probably go on, but then id have to actually think instead of just using common sense.

Though a forum though, it comes out like you are saying that his driving should have been better than that.To me reading it, it comes out as an attack. Hubert doesn't know you. You just said Chris should be in 4th, but you didn't say that you drift in 3rd gear in an NA Z.

You have a valid question, it just comes out weird on a forum. Also Chris may have had a valid reason to be in a certain gear. It was his first time out in the car and it wasn't under a competition setting. This is just one video, over a whole day. Maybe there are 6 other videos of him drifting in 2nd gear. Maybe a couple in 4th gear. Maybe a few of him spinning out.

To drift yes. Heavier car seems to be easy to be consistent because of the weight and long wheel based but that's also hard to be competitive with.

I heard some issues with the Z as far as the rear suspension, but the people on here say its the easiest car ever to drift, so they must be right.

its also expensive to drift, very expensive.

Easy to drift yes... but not easy to make into a competitive car.

wow daytona, ive never seen you post like that on any forum

yeah, chris isnt doing anything a stock Z cant do, speed is the same, just more smoke, I may not be a licensed driver or even a good driver, but considering the Z is the easiest car in the world to drift, thats not impressive, and dissapointing. im not a big poster, so ill just say that for now.

you get so offended when people make our cars look bad dont you?

Come to Irwindale and show us what you got if you think you have some knowledge to share.

no i am not asking a question and yes i have been to irwindale in my NA powered Z. did i ever say in any way i was a better driver? no, i just made an obsevation based on my experience in MY z on MY time during irwindale practice events.

oh, and i know for a fact that the red endless 350z, nowhere near built as far as engine wise, was in 4th gear drifting the bank with andy yen driving, also dont forget avbout tinos stillen supercharged 350z 4th gear bank drift as well, tanner foust as well too probably. i will exclude chris forsberg since he has a v8, but still, making proably the same power also in 4th.

Mr. Young, i would have expected more professionalism in your post, but i guess i thought wrong. you come out and just try to slap me down with insults when my points are very valid, never did i say, "oh he sucks, hes not in 4th doing the bank, what a loser" or "im such a better drive than that, look, he sucks". nope, i did not say anything remotely close to that either.

and to clarify, i have been to irwindale numerous times in my NA powered z and there is no problem bank drifting in 3rd, i am not sponsored nor have any form of it so i dont make it out there as much as i should. Hatbobbarker will agree since he as well has done it. you may also wanna ask alex pfiefer, because he has done it in my car as well- even when it was on STOCK suspension. so where you come off saying that i have not done irwindale or ever drifted in 2nd is not even relevant.

if you would like proof that third gear bank drift can be done on a NA z, i can link you to a video. but this was all i was asking because in MY experience, 3rd gear is achievable on my NA z pushing about 255whp--on a extremely beautiful and glorious day--, now with about +150hp(at least), wouldnt you think it would be possible to do 4th gear?

besides this is 2007, i dont know if you got the memo but life is all about drifting in 7th gear now with a stock 4ag.
Well said. That's the spirit of drifting.
