I'm not arguing semantics just pointing out the fact that the latest wave of V8 hate is getting old.
I can understand and respect opinions, I have my own, but this is just getting lame. When any one of the "haters" is building the cars or funding the teams then what they have to say will hold some validity. As it stands now, it's just bitching. If someone doesn't like it then they can buy Option DVD's instead of watching FD.
You should know by now that I, like so many others, will speak my mind. And if what I have to say goes against the common or current trend then so be it.
I'm not disrespecting anyone's opinion, just pointing out that what these teams decide to do to stay competitive is up to them, not the masses.

I agree with "Ontrack" here. people need to grow up. I personally love american v8's especially the sound of a well-built naturally aspirated example. This is America not Japan. We have v8's everywhere just like how Japan has a bunch of 4 and 6 cylinders everywhere. Why waste 10k to build up a fully tuned SR engine or lightly modified RB26 when we can just go to a junkyard, find a chevy smallblock and drive it fairly stock for half the costs and the same amount of power? JDM sr and RB26 engines are cool and all but when you need something to be easily acquired at a moments notice, it's better having something that you can get locally

There's 3 different types of V8 "Haters"
-The ones who feel the way the sport is judged automatically gives them the advantage (Me)
-The disenfranchised fans
-The ones who genuinely hate V8s
The first 2, I touched about on this thread and on other threads on here. But the last one, I don't think that fits the description of anyone on this site. Try preaching to those dudes on the speedhunters or jalopnik. There's nothing wrong with feeling concerned or disenfranchised.

I don't believe you understood what I was saying but yes JDM engines have good power to weight ratios I cannot deny that. but I was saying that for the cost and availability it is alot more convenient to acquire. JDM engines and american v8's are both really great though and I wouldn't mind owning a old datsun z with a rb26 or a v8 powerplant.
if your a v8 hater good for you but don't be hating others because they like them. if you have driven an american v8 powered vehicle before you will understand why people use them so much.

I was an RB swap hater well before the V8 craze. I fell in love with Drifting for what the driver does behind the wheel as much as what the wheels are doing to the road. High hp/tq vehicles just don't keep the driver busy.
At local drift events there are a couple ls1 s13's with good drivers. I understand the advantages but to me they just don't move right. Sure you can initiate and hold the slide easier/better? But when it transitions it is not as smoothe as a good ol SR. Noticed this even from my favorite driver Dai in Atlanta last year.

My opinion:
If you don't like the cars in FD then don't show up. Plain and simple.
There's plenty of people who will take your place. Last year, Long Beach / Irwindale were both sold out, and attendance was up at every single FD event. If you don't buy a ticket, someone else will. No loss to FD.
Right now, I feel that FD has the best tandem battles in the world, as evident at FD Irwindale and the exhibition in Abu Dhabi. Personally, I don't care what motors are in the cars as long as they are side-by-side.Last edited by Slapshotnerd; 03-04-2011, 10:22 AM.

B) That's just nonsense. Did you see the team drifting at Yas by some of the very best FD drivers? Did you also see the Team Burst bash at Meihan sportsland?Last edited by my 1 88 u; 03-04-2011, 12:18 PM.
