    Golf\Rabbit breif history

No, it's a Golf. The rabbit is just the first model that they came out with and then they made the rabbit a little bit bigger and called it a golf.
Plust i think they stopped making Rabbits in like 79 or 82 or something like that, could be wrong though.
I just no that a Rabbit was basicly a proto for what was to come.

The Fox turned into the jetta and the jetta into a passat.
The passat is just a more roomier car of the jetta.

the higher up you go on the car the more luxery they have.

so its like this, VW beetle,Charman Ghia and Bus\Van,(all had the same engine in them as the VW Beetle),then the Pickup, Fox, Rabbit, Golf, Jetta, Passat, Pheoton and Toureg. (But not in that order)

The Golf and jetta had the same engine in but the higher models like the GL, GTi what have you had more horse power and upgrades to the enigne then the lower end models of that time.
The Golf and Jetta used the same engine from the 1980's to the early 1990' then they redesigned it.

they currently use the same engine in all there cars now days except the pheoton and Toureg, which are manely for torque, power and all wheel drive.

My Golf is the lowest model for that time frame, The VW Golf Custome, But she runs and sound just as good as the day she came off the assembly line, She donsn't look like much but she runs good.

I wish the new designed VW's would come to america, Europe has all the newer models and we still have last years models.

      Tire Plates?

what do you just strap them to your wheels and let the wheels sit on the plates (like skys on a sled) and then just turn sharp with them and that is how it slides?

        $$$

Personaly I would just want to be in the video.
Cash is nice and a small amount would be nice but I would do it just for the chance to be viewed by others and just for the love of drifting.

Exposure is good, but $$ builds cars, buys tires, and buys track time. I'm not saying what you're doing is wrong, but this is a drivers perspective (I'm a driver too and I feel the same way sometimes). Alex's comments might be viewed as negative, but they bring up some things drivers should think about. Sometimes you'll find people that consider the Exposure more usefull than $$ (this is how Dave is). To each his own. About 6 months ago I decided I wanted to do something that would directly benifit the drivers. I plan to edit and release a DVD of all the Hawaii Drifting Event coverage I have (over a years worth) with a large majority of the $$ going into a fund that will pay for Hawaii's top event winners to travel to the mainland to drive. The $$ that does not go back to the drifters will be used to offset the costs of the video equipment. Just need to find the time to get everything edited ...

I agree entirely, belive I don't expect anything for free in this world. I have been doing this for 5 years now, this is my 2nd year of producing our own videos and not working freelance....but anyway, the people involed in my production do get taken care of. It comes in many forms other than cash up front, and if thats what it takes to get you in one of my films you just won't be there. I usually don't discuss this in public forums , but, the deals I have with particapants range from: giving the footage I capture to the driver for their personal/commercial use, I have edited promo packs for resumes, we ALWAYS wholesale the DVD's back to particapants for sale on websites and shows--which can make you unlimited $$$'s, I have filmed enitre videos for teams, etc etc.

I usually work out these deals with the drivers after filming, it all depends on how much of that particular person will be seen in the final production. I am not in this business to F*ck the people I need to make a project work. I live day to day like most of you, I am by no means rich or have money to throw away, it seems people make a judgement before knowing anything about a person and thats what makes things go bad right from the beggining. I started this thread with an email address to contact me so I could discuss these details in private, but since this became a 6 page thread, I might as well address it here.

All of you that want to take part, I am glad to have you, everyone that doesn't, I am very sorry if someone in my position has done you wrong in the past, but thats not how I work! I am here to help every single party involved. I realize none of you have worked with me in the past and this could be a risk, but if you are willing to take that risk, so am I.

I did check your web site and look at some of the events Yates.

I do fell your jumping on the band wagon of producing drift vids and by coming here, asking for footage from people, where most of the people here would give anything to be in a mag or vid. If you want to produce something, go to your local track events and meet people. Talk to people, not just "YOU WANT TO BE A STAR!!!"
You should be more professional about it. If you want to catch grassroots side of it, DO NOT shoot anything on street roads. It will only make us all look bad. And that goes for all you drifters out there.

I have been asked by alot of vid companies to shoot stuff on the street. No way in hell is that going to happen. I may have started off on the streets but its the same as going to Vegas, what happens there stays there.

Yates, go to hawaii. There is a good grassroot feel there and you can maybe find some of the moped guys there. I promise you will be suprized with how tallented they are and it will change your image of driving on 2 wheels.

Thanks for your input, I have attended several events and met/filmed some people in the industry. I am just here looking for some people I have not met yet, I was under the impression thats what public forums are for. I didn't ask anyone to shot on the street, thats not the image I want in the video, I would never be able to sell it in the US, no distributer in their right mind would associate their name with it.

Yes I am jumping on the bandwagon, I see this sport as a growth sport and I want to be invoved.

I'll pass on guys on scooters, the footage I shoot is more exciting than that.

                      Thanks again for your input

Like I said, when I figure out where I am going I'll find areas to film at. Most likely not big tracks, we have used Road Atlanta before but that was a favor. Most likely I would contact industrial parks, parking lots, and if you are near a track we will try, but like you said tracks are expensive. I just don't want to produce a video only using event footage. Its not going to be easy, but, I am going to do everything I can to make it work---and most importantly FUN
