I was just kind of wondering how we could supports you pros other than voting for our favorite on these forum polls. What are you guys selling, why should we buy it? What would it take to get you guys to do more exhibitions near us? These may seem like dumn questions to you southern cali ans but we dont have Ernie to install and tune our sr20det's down here in ATL Ga. or even get to chill with any of you pro's at a driftday.

I know alot of people are complaining about drifting getting big and what not but it is not moving fast enough here in ga. I thought the first formula drift event being here would mean something but it doesnt seem to of changed anything. I am still limited to my small parking lot with no advanced drifters to help guide me to the next level. I would like to see ALOT more meets in this region and places to practice and see people that are better than you to motivate, challenge, and learn from.

This probably takes money to happen but if drifting is as big and popular as people claim it to be than there should be plenty money to go around. This past year i've purchased an s13 front end, vlsd, shocks, springs, tires, tires, and more tires. If I could spend that money on businesses that promote MORE drifting in my area i would do so gladly.

We pro drift guys would really like to run around the country putting on schools but for the most part, drifting is still developing, and not many people are willing to pay the extra money for the track rental, insurance, and us to get there and back when they have touge or there favorite parking lot to go to.

I wish we could be putting on more drift events in you areas, but like Alex said its still growing. Sorry, but your gonna have to wait a little longer. Don't be so negative towards newbies. That is one I can't emphasize enough. How are we supposed to make it grow if we are a-holes to any newbie who wants to check out the scene. You have to take it upon yourself to educate them. Answer questions about your car and why you modify it the way you do. Explain to them what it is that your up to....drifting. Don't be afraid to answer the dumb questions. That look your talking about, thats Ernie's normal look. We all thought the same thing when you first meet him but he is really cool as soon as you start talking. Just have to walk up and say whats up.

I can vouch for that. That is Ernie's normal look. Everytime I have seen him he is like that. He is really a cool guy and easy to talk to just like Alex and all the other guys.

For everyone that thinks that Pro drifters are rich and make tons of money... well... you need to take a closer look because about 99.9% of the Pro drifters don't have cash sponsors. Most of the sponsorships are part sponsors and most of those are just % off cost, not freebies. All of them have full time jobs and do this for fun on weekends. So please don't think they have a "stuck up" or "high and mighty" attitude because they don't. If you want to talk to them, be cool, don't come up and bombard them with questions. They are usually prepping for the event or just finished talking to 100 other people about the same thing. They all want to connect with fans. Without you guys, we can't have these cool events. Like I said, just be cool.

Thank you all for your quick and informative responses. I couldn't agree with you more about educating the noobs. I have a coworker that has a ricer mentality with his integra and he wants to carry that to his recently purchased 240sx. I try my best to edjucate him on what path to take with tuning and practice because at first he thought he would be drifter x once he gets an sr20det and s15 front end.

THis is the best thread I have read on here. I was feeling a little down, sitting in my closet apartment in Tokyo, thinking about how much more I have to save up to buy my car. Missing my girlfriend who lives 6 hours away by bus. I read this and it made me feel better, thanks guys, thanks for the positive attitude and sence if leadership.

Agreed, this is a great thread.

People, you have to also realize that since these pro's are not freeriding it all over the USA, they may be having a bad day. There may be a reason for the "mean look" and it may have to do with the fact that he may have fried a 600 dollar clutch, broken a coilover or slammed the car into a corner and broke some other unmentioned suspension part. They have to shell out the money to get this stuff fixed. So take that into consideration before you write them off as being stuck up. They may be lost in thought and trying to figure out a way to stay in the competition. Think of how you would feel if you were in their shoes. You have to play to pay and these guys pay more than any of us do to play so lighten up on them.

I agree with the guy rom Atlanta. Drifting is not catching on there near as fast as other places but faster than others. I live in Knoxville Tn and this place is Honda hell. They still think of 240's as pos import cars. Other than the handful of people that are around me, there are no others. It's kind of sad since this is Dragon land and all. But this morning I found the perfect drift spot to hold an exhibition. So i'm checking into it.

We need to understand that this is a new sport and while people know about it, 90% of the population doesn't. It's up to us o put on safe and interesting exhibitionsto educate the people in the correct way. That is what these pro's are doing or trying to do. We just need to give everyone some time.

Besides, if Drifting isn' coming to your town fast enough then make your own way. Start your own thing. How do you think that stuntshows and driving shows got started? They made their own niche. But do it safely.

Sorry for the mean face...

These guys are exactly right about what we have to go through...to make this happen for not only the fans, but the responsiblity to the sponsors. I stayed up all night changing the engine in my car(rod bearing failure) before D1 in February to make the show and broke my transmission in qualifying. Talk about a bad day. Not just myself, but my crew. They work double what I do to make it happen. I will do my best to improve the way I interact with the crowd regardless of what is happening. In Atlanta we broke another transmission and I had to work with my sponsors to resolve the problem and use a less aggressive clutch(thanks to EXEDY). We qualified in the top 16 with no practice. In Houston, I broke 3 left axles and Ken broke 2 SETS of axles. Before the axles the subframe bushings on my car also gave up. My crew (Richard aka JDM Rice and Franco) worked hard to keep the car together and we pulled it off and still qualified for the top 16 with no second day practice.

It seems now with all the hard work and Team Rotora's efforts we have most of the bugs worked out. We had a practice yesterday at Streets of Willow with the Speedtrial USA gang and the car ran great all day. I will try to keep you guys up to date on this whole thing and I hope to see more of you out at the events supporting us. Like someone said on here earlier "without the fans this wouldn't be possible"
