Ah. That sucks. Well there's always a next time. And for the future, September 9th is supposed to be Round 4 of the Top Drift series. If your sponsors allow it, you shoudl come out to compete, because as you can tell i think it would definetely help a lot and would probly earn you a lot of respect from all the guys out here. We also have an amateur competition series in atlanta at turner field (a little closer to Miami than Cali ). Check out www.driftfury.com we usually get about 25 practice runs per event and then we do a top 8 competition.

all this talk about modified knuckles, nd tweaked camber/toe setups bothers me, i mean, i know i jsut drift for fun, as a hobby, i dont get into third gear except for a few times here and there.... but honestly, i feel like all this teck tal kabout "well with one knuckle th car spun out" and with the other knuckle the car didnt spin out... its like, well maybe its the driver then, because last time i checked.... i know kids that win almost every event that beaver run and kilkare have to offer with skill, not the car... im serious, basics mods like a motor, 2 way, coilovers, and a few other things (yesi know my car is way more built up than that, but still), but if you are bitching about modified knuckles that are letting or not letting you succeed... that makes me think its not the knuckles at all man, sounds like the "knuckles" are a term for excuses...
Disclaimer - im not pro, i know that being pro means being consistent..
Disclaimer #2 - alot of pros have superbuilt cars, some dont have super built cars, we all accept that
disclaimer #3 - no one should ever *Censored**Censored**Censored**Censored**Censored* or make excuses abotu a car not beign dialed correctly... because i see kids everyother weekend that literally, rip in their car, 3rd gear and all until it breaks, and then hop into a friend or strangers car and fulfill the same "shred factor".... john wagner just to name 1....
Post to nick hogan, ... it seems like you like the sport, its seems liek you have a good attitude... thats great man, but i see you more as a "im going to make a pseudo living out of this" rather than enjoy it as a hobby, and i dont think that its the best route for you... but who am i? my dad isnt the hulkster... so what do i know. Either way, chinup man, theres always the next event...
anyhow guys, i didnt want to come across as a *Censored**Censored**Censored**Censored*, i lvoe you all, lets all rmember that we're doing this to have fun..which is #1, because ive noticed that drifting has evolved into what i predicted in the last 3-4 years... it went from kids in cars that perform well and jsut love to rip (so positive).................................. to a fashion contest (car modifications, like aero, and whos got the biggest dish) where everyone wants to be the most popular with almost what happened to honda civics and road courses (turning into everyone having them with something to prove )

For one you are comparing apples to oranges, thats like saying well my s-chassis is easier to drift stock than your viper is stock, which is probably true but most s-chassis cars have more angle stock then the viper, I know I ran my s14 with stock stearing stops and stock angle for a long time and didnt feel like I needed anymore, but now how much time I spend on the modified steering stops I would spin like crazy in a stock car. At least till I got used to it again. And the difference between the two cars is night and day. The viper was designed when it was built as a purpose built drift car to run on modified knuckles to give it the extra angle it needs. Maybe a more experienced driver could have adjusted faster but you cant fault him for having his setup changed in the middle of his practice runs and not adjusting fast enough. Now that being said I think even he would agree that the reason he didnt get his license was lack of experience excuses or not thats the truth, a more experienced driver would have adjusted to track changes quicker and a more experienced driver probably would have avoided the 2nd accident. He has already stated that he is going to attend more events and work hard so I am not sure why this thread is still open??

For instance, just the other day, a kid asks me "why do they put underpowered cars like corrollas up against vipers...??? and my answer was, because thats what they brought to run.... THEY DIDNT have to BRING that ae86 knowing that some viper was going to leave them in a trail of dust/smoke....
....but for some reason (lifelong optimist maybe?) they want to be different? or are used to the car more than another car (but it doesnt matter unless you're winning right... on a professional level)
^^^both ideas dont hold much sanity to me...especially if you are trying to make a living out of this....(1. why use a car that cant "run" with the big dogs, 2. why do soemthing just to be different when there are proven routes to success?)

do three (3) things for me
1. quit acting like i was attacking anyone personally. you talk about how drifting isnt about winning and its supposed to be fun.... and all you are doing is preaching to the chior, thats why i do it for funs-sake...
2. stop with the brute force attack, you'll notice that drifting.com wont tolerate people that get out of line and go to far (As you have clearly done) and taken what i said way out of context, chopped it, underminded it and regurgitated it into falsehood...
3. please do as you promised, and dont reply to this thread... you might be good at driving, you might think drifting=life... you might be new to it, you might have been into it as long as i have... But at the end of the day, what you are saying is what everyone else is saying, you are trying to take and justify how a sport that was birthed on grassroots HAS NOT turned into a media melting pot for rumors and success, take drifting for what it is, it was underground, and fun, but now its mainstream and fun, the keyword is fun....

2. are some sort of elitest drift guru who has tons of knowledge and no seat time

Well this is what I got from you response to my post, you dont think the ae86 chassis is competitive, which is clearly false and there are many '86 drivers that have proven you wrong in the past. Also I got the impression that you think that the viper isnt as competitive or consistent as an schassis car. Another falsehood that has been proven wrong many times. Stick you foot in your mouth or both hands whatever keeps you from looking like an idiot in this thread. The only reason he was using stock knuckles was from an accident earlier in the day. the car as it was built has plenty of angle and is super consistent and competitive.

im not doubting any of that...
is it also wrong to have opinions? sure there are drivers that can pilot an 86, but in my opinion of what ive seen, those drivers step foot in something like an S chassis and get tons more angle not to mention less snap back.. this is my ipinion from what ive seen, so please dont come down on me like im trying to say that i am all knowing, you're looking for an argument, and you wont find it here...
im simply stating what ive seen, and you cannot argue with that..
