Last time i looked into it (when I had money ) I was interested in the FMAX kit for the twin cam KA24. I blew my single cam on a stupid mistake (throttle return damn it!) so i upgraded to a newer twin cam and plan on getting a turbocharger. Im doing it, for the same reason people put huge *Censored**Censored**Censored* wings on honduhs, to be Unique, every riceboy and his brother now dreams of an SR20 powered 240 drift machine. imagine their suprise when my humble KA24 pulls up.

i dunno, i've always figured that an Iron block would probably stand a beating better than an aluminum one, if i blow the motor there are plenty of goombas wanting to get rid of em when they swap their SR20's in, but the head makes me nervous. I wont be pushing more than 350hp out to the flywheel, which is more than I need. that and I already start .4 liters ahead of the SR20 if i decide to punch my motor. i figure i gotta change out the internals anyways, why not go bigger?

I sound like I know what I am talking about but if you ask me i really only know a few things in depth, if anyone has anything constructive to add other than getting the KA24 out of my car faster than a fat kid in dodge ball please feel free to do so.

well i finnaly got the pictures he took of the car and its not too bad..... well for a crap heap but i dont really care. I got a redneck to really rigg up a adaptor plate for a turbo for the ka, and well it hauls. i smoked the tires the first time i punched it and nearly wrecked it it was with another 240 (my sisters best friends 240 she sold the car the next week and said i could destroy it if i wanted but she wouldnt sell it to me the whale ) it was a pain taking all the stuf back out in a day and a half but it was woth it man i gotta get the title fot the other one and get the car now i will rebuild mine since my grandfather has taken a liking to the car he siad its a nice little jap car pretty high praise for him. he siad it has over 170,000 miles so it will be rebuild time for it its a 93 he said he might even get one for himslef now if it wasnt quite so small he`s 6`5 we`re all tall in my family but the seats are new he said so i guess i dont have to go through that struggle and he said it has a posi so im set for a while thanks for all the help and man my car is gonnna rock!!!!!!!!!!

I wonder why alot of big name tuners in Japan want ka motors?

well theres really two reasons i can think of

1 the goon factor torque lots of gooey tire melting torque can be gently stoked and massaged out of that engine or ripped, shredded and torn like a roll of toilet paper like i did

2 the anti rice factor or as i call it the grass is greener on the other side of the ocean effect boo hoo they got a torque motor and we got a turbocharged beast boo hoo

d a m n e d snivelers let us have the fun for once and it was sure fun im pretty sure i destroyed some thing somewhere on the suspension on that car but hey it warnt mine

but as far as building a turbo ka, well ill just tell ya now that the ka can take a beating, or at least mine is
and slapping a turbo on it just makes it that much more fun!
the main reason people think the SR is sucha better engine is because any SR that comes frome japan has no more than 50 thousand miles (and if more you they probly got screwed unless it was real cheap)
and all the KA's have been driven to who knows how many miles
so their not as prestine as the sr's but with a lil rebuilding and some beefig up of the internals the ka will be a force to be reconded with
i mean ive seen a slitely built turbo 96 240 (ka)give it to a 93 240 with sr but that was drag so......
50,000 or more is more like it and all of them were road hard and put away wet. I can buy them all day for 700 to a grand with everything hangin off them. I can also buy them for 50 bucks and you get what you got. PARTS. now for what the Japs are doing. The sr deacks are week the cast block is strong how much more power can you retrive if nothing blows. Also aluminum is nice but the head and the block both being aluminum has its weeknesses like heat distortion. I have seen 1000hp drag SRs cant wait to see that out the cast block. Japanese tuners are like swiss whatch makers. They can mill anything to what they want and get power out of things you would never think would produce. IM a old mucsel car man and built some nice V8s but the same power out of a 2 litter. You see where im going right. Build the ka and have fun.

The fact is, newb, hachi=eight roku=six. It doesnt mean eighty-six. Like A-E-eighty-six. Yes I know that hachiroku is the typical reference to an ae86 corolla, but that allusion was part of the reason I picked my sn. I was aware that it would misunderstood by 'tards and caught by others. Just my way, Im all about the obscure humor. Anyway... man, Im trying to pick points of yours to defend my position on but none of your arguments are valid. I'll find something. Alright, lets start here. How many LHD 240sxs (all are LHD as they were only offered to the USA) have you seen in D1 (a JAPANESE drift league). Catchin on yet. SRs COME STOCK THERE. THEY DIDNT GET THE KA. Dense. Another thing, why do these newbs keep talking about pros. Im gunna throw a link at you. I want you to read my defense to another newb who referred to pros.

              http://www.drifting.com/forums/showt...3&goto=newpost

You drive a silvia eh?? So you drive a RHD car that nobody imports? S chassis doesnt mean silvia. Silvia was the name of the car in Japan. Im not gunna waste my time defending the KA on this board anymore. Ive done it more than enough times to newbs (like you) that take advantage of my attempts to educate them (you). If you want to hear my defense, do a search. Here or NICO or Freshalloy or any number of Nissan boards. Personally I dont care if you "are converted" or not. Anybody who would spend $3000 for a 50hp upgrade but drop in displacement/torque can be my guest. Im not dissing the SR. There are applications for such an engine. Dude, just buy a clue. I dont come here to argue.

              Peace
I would say you picked your sn thinking it was cool.
              I dont drive a silvia?
I spent more than 3k and my car is way faster than it was!
              yo genki?

I would say that japanese tuners are interested in the ka because if you put a lot in, you could get a lot out. right?
or are they just going to slap on a t3 like your average civic *Censored**Censored**Censored**Censored*er.

Chas have you noticed japan's markets? They seem to be following us, they are more interested in america.

What do american 240's come with? KA's what do they want to do? make more money in a new untapped market? America?!, but then again because KA's are stong, could take the power if throwen at them and are really toqury.

i dont know how much you guys trust the info in turbo mag, they took a ka (altima)and put some electric boost thing on it... 30 runs at 10psi i think it was, and a little fuel cut issue, and that was enough to do the motor in. properly tuned the ka would be more powerfull, and more expensive. you always get what you pay for, unless you get scammed.

i wonder if they say... oooh that is usdm tighto!
I know they like rock music and bluejeans- motorex says they export mustangs and things to japan. the grass is always greener on the other side. personally, i like parts of both the us and japanese auto worlds. mabey they heard the american saying no replacement for cubic displacement and got excited(2.4L~ bigger).

Yes they had a tech artical on a actual working electric supercharger the problem is it works more like nitrous oxide in that you get only a short amount of boost. The engine running charges extra batteries that then are used to power to blower for about 20 seconds or so. Good for a drag application. It would be simular to nitrous but with out having to refill it. The problem si this setup cost about the same as traditional supercharger or turbo kit.

dori-dori is slang for dorifto, which is how this would be pronounced in japanese.
hachi roku in japanese auto world means TRUENO
                            not just any 86'
now if you were japanese and were talking about your car, i guess you could say that, if you were speaking in an informal tone. like "i got an 86 fc." im not sure if you were japanese you would really say that though.
                            thanks
if he got the car for free, i say spend your money wisely and dont listen to people who say it is easy to get the ka to perform. i have seen tons of ka drifting s13/s14's in the D1. NOT EVEN CLOSE!
Man you think you are so smart don't you. Well you over looked a few things. First 86 just doesn't refer to the Trueno it also refers to the Levin because it is a chassis code and they are both the same car with different front ends. What happens if you have an AE85 Trueno? Hmm...yeah that is right. Initial D is cool but it doesn't teach you everything and you just proved that.
