wow ok, i cant believe im actually taking time to defend myself to drifting.com....

ok whoever said tone of voice, this is a forum. i think if you are getting a tone of voice you are reading a little too hard.

notice how i stopped posting? sorry i dont check this crap every 5 seconds.

    i got schooled, how so?

and im a newbie huh? post count = time behind the wheel huh thai juku? you are keiichi, taste the backfire.. hardcore

auto is poor for drifting because you cant clutch kick it, throttle response is slower, and if you ebrake you will toast your back pads unless you slide it into neutral all the time. i dont care if you drift an auto, hell derek with the camino drifts an auto and hes sponsored and kicks *Censored**Censored**Censored*, i just cant stand all the people on here with handles like dRiFtMaStEr who drive auto maximas and call them drift machines.

Just because he's a newb to the forum does not mean he know nothing. Common guys get it together.

Well...I don't like it when you started bashing and calling it "ga.y". Usually if your new to a forum wouldn't you want to be friendly at 1st? You don't make friends by calling things ga.y do you? And seems you contradicted by saying "autos are cool now cuz this guy drives one". Thats just a signature, no need to take it so literal. It's just for a laugh...Lastly you don't need to check every 5 seconds...They e-mail you when a post comes up...So no flaming ok? I am honored to meet you chmercer.

To chmercer: I just want to say I have nothing against you personaly and that when I read you initial post the first thing that ran through my mind was: "okay, this seems to be written by someone immature who is looking for respect and acceptance because he thinks he is the bomb because he knows that automatics are not the best for drifting". Please don't be offended
I am not trying to make you feel that way. I am just trying to say that your post did sound immature and im probably not the only one who thought so.

ok u anal muncher, you have disgraced this forum long enough, please a-hole, i drive a cressida, its rearwheel drive, no one here thats trying to school you is driving an FF, and it is possible to drift an FF without using e-brake, and there are techniques where you dont need a clutch kick.

since when did maxima = cressida? i wasnt talking about your car. i know mx73 or whichever gen you drive is rwd. again, what the hell are you trying to school me at? everyone knows automatic and ff are inferior for drifting. theres no reason to try and argue that.

automatic and FF are not inferior for drifting. You Just don't have the technique to do it, what are you trying to be? the IMPOSSIBLE police? shiet, you've seen them drift FF's, and YOU"VE SEEN THEM DRIFT AUTOMATICS

Ok enough...Chmercer, maybe you won't see an auto, FF, auto FF or whatever in a major drifting video...But there are people out there that still do drift them. It's not the most impressive drifting, I'll admit that, but people just do for kicks. They're not hardcore drifters. Neither do they buy 4 new sets of tires each month. And as you said there are people like this on the forum...Why blame them? There fans of the sport and sometimes they're considered more than fans. For example, would you dog on a guy who watches football every Sunday and he hasn't even thrown a football?...So chill...(You too Cressida )

                    I hate being a preacher...I sound so *Censored**Censored**Censored*...*

DAMMIT IM ON THE SECOND PAGE AGAIN

Inferior? Hahaha maybe at your local ricer spot where the kids try to drift their moms car. But in other parts of the world there are people drifting for real with automatics and no problems. There are ways to overcome all the disadvantages of an automatic so no, they are not inferior. Open your mind and you'll see that both types of transmissions can work for drifting. You dont need to kick a clutch to initiate a slide, learn new techniques. Shifting response is slow? Install a shift kit, raise the line pressure and you'll be supprised how fast it shifts (ever hear built auto's chirp their tires at slow speeds?). Need to do a long slide?? ... hahah not gonna share that one ... top secret hahaha. No, automatics are not inferior. In stock form they aren't that great, but then again, neither are most stock manual transmissions. How many people do you know that drift with completely OEM manual transmissions? Everyone I know runs at least an aftermarket clutch, so how you gonna compare that to a stock OEM automatic? Unfair comparison. Granted automatics require more modification than a manual for the best potential in a drifting situation, they still work great. It requires a different modification, different techniques, etc. The reason automatics haven't been generally accepted yet is because nobody in Japan makes parts for the automatic transmissions in Japan cars. They all just switch to manual transmission, probably because of a lack of parts, its just easier to swap. Whereas here in the US, there are many aftermarket companies that make parts for the automatic transmissions (probably because of the large drag racing scene here in the USA), suddenly you have the ability to modify the automatic transmissions for drifting use. I think as the USA cars (aka domestics) start to get involved with this sport you will see more and more automatics out there drifting. Japan wrote the book on drifting, but the book isn't over yet, new chapters being written everyday. To the guy with the Supra, I recommend looking into modifying that automatic transmission. One of the guys in my club runs an auto with 4k stall in his drag supra (ran a 10.97 last week) so I know they make parts for those auto's...

ugh whatever. good that there are parts for auto transmissions. if you want to drift an auto whatever. but know that you will always have more control over your car if it is equipped with a manual transmission. i personally would not waste time with an auto transmission and neither would anyone i know who actually drifts.

Can you please explain to me why you think auto gives you less control over your car? Please explain in detail so that we can understand where you are comming from. I am trying to explain to you in detail why they work great and what to do to get them to work great. Opinions are great, everyone has one, but facts and experiences are what actually help people learn or progress. We don't want to be spreading any mis-information to anyone that might be reading these forums wondering if they NEED a manual transmission to drift. There are a number of people at our Drift Sessions (both domestic and import) that use automatics to drift. You almost wouldn't be able to tell the difference between an auto or a manual transmission car from outside the car unless you knew who was running what. The only difference that I can see is that the auto guys initiate with a feint, and the manual guys initiate with a clutch kick. Other than that its the same result ....

Also, dont take this as a personal attack, I'm just curious to know why you feel that way. And if your argument is that no automatic cars have ever won the D1 I would like to remind you that there are probably hundreds of street drifters in Japan that we have probably never seen or heard of, so remember that what you see in video's does not necessarily cover the entire scene.

top secret? no offence, but this is a place for learning... please share your technique with us (if you have one) since there may be some people on this site that want to learn about this style of drift
