yea man i hope i get a good car too, but you might not get what you want for your first car. Rx8 will give you a high insurance.

Rx7's you might have to rebuild the engine if it has a lot of km's.

a RX-8 would probably be a great drift car, However they are so expensive. Drifting is hard. I have probably just recently damaged some suspension components, so i will need those replaced. Alot of guys have crashed. You will destroy tires, and attract the attention of cops, A nice new shiny RX-8 will do that.

Get a inexpensive car a older second generation FC rx-7 or a Nissan S13 are good examples, both are lightweight rear wheel drive and have a good weight distribution.

If your considering buying a new Rx-8 then you want have a problem picking up one of these cars. just look around towns, small towns at leas there are always a place for a good deal ont hese cars. A older toyota Corrolla 86 wouldnt be a bad idea, look in small towns like i said, because they will cost too much on the net. once you get a car, come back and i will give you hints and tips on learning.

Ok i'm gona get straight to the point. I have said this numerous times. Do NOT get an RX-8 if you are going to learn how to Drift. Not only are you going to waste a very large amount of money on the purchase, you are also getting into a car that does not have a large aftermarket. Parts are super high, insurance is going to be higher, everything is going to be higher. Not to mantion your parents are going to LOVE it when you bring that car home with a smashed rear axle or broken wheel and bald tires. So you are only setting yourself up for a fall.

many times on this forum that it amazes me that people still want to ask these questions. This basically falls under the "good drift cars" heading. The RX-8 is NOT a good Drift car for all the reasons I stated above.

As for not being able to find an RX-7 where you live, that's just strange. But why would you import one from Japan? Why not just get one out of the States? The emissions laws are more strict down here than yours so coming down here and getting one, then driving it back shouldn't pose a problem. I'm not 100% sure of the laws but they can't be any more strict than USA ones converning that stuff.

Also you said importing one from Japan will cost you 28,000. Is that Canadian? If so that is ALOT less than you are going to pay for an RX-8. Yes you get a warranty on the 8 but soon as you start bolting things to it to make it a beter Drift/wrecked car, your warranty is going out the window. So my advice to you, get a 240. Yeap everyone has one, there must be a reason why.

This thread is confusing....

Get a car that you wouldn't mind driving into a wall - because you will.

Get a car that you can work on (not a rotary, unless you know rotaries) - becuase you will.

Get a car that has an aftermarket to help you upgrade - because you will.

Toyota Supra / Celica Supra (consult Emission)
GM F-body (Camaro, Firebird)
Ford Fox-body (5.0 Mustang)

If it's going to be your only car or see double-duty your parameters may require something different.
