which meand NZO just got pwned.. lol im just kidding NZO, there is a way to make this are a rear wheel drive, but its too much headache, why bother? the evo's 4 wheel drive system is electronically controlled active differential. means you CAN tune it to have it generate more power to the rear wheels but not all of it im afraid a small percentage has to go in the front. The way it works is a computer inputs from multiple sensors like yaw rates, steering angle, lateral acceleration and distribution of torque so it can compensate for any type of handling behaviors (dunno why they did this, i thinks its ghey and its not considered to be real driving if you basing a car's handling from electrionics) IMO, its virtually not a rear wheel drive pure bred making it impossible to be 100 percent rear wheel drive. with the exception of the subaru which they were saying earlier that its engine is mounted vertically. and on top of it, i dont think D1 regulations would allow electronically controlled vehicles at all (im not so sure on this, dont quote me on it)

Well the GTR's system is rear biased to begin with. It sends most of its power to rear wheels anyways. It waits till it senses the rear wheels slipping till it redistributes power to the front wheels. You can do a number of things to a GTR to make it rear drive. Its not the same as making a an EVO rear drive.

subarus are like rwd converted to awd. you can actually make a subaru rwd by welding the center diff.
mitsubishis are like front wheel drive converted to awd. so when you take away awd you get a front wheel drive car, it could be possible, but it would take an incredible amount of work to make it rwd. FAR more work.
engine bay shots of a front wheel drive car and rwd car could help alot, along with undercarriage shots, then hell udnerstand driveshafts.
You are partially correct, but I'd like to ammend your post some:
When you weld the center differential, you are essentially locking the awd in 4 wheel drive (both front and rear differentials receiving an equal amount of power). The process of converting an awd subaru to rwd by welding the center diff and removing the front axles would basically equate to welding your rear differential and removing one wheel to make it "left wheel drive" or something.
Regardless of which is the primary power side (front or rear in awd, left or right in 2wd), fusing the spider gears in to a solid mass and locking the differential will cause both ends to receive equal power. Knowing this, the EVO is just as capable of delivering pure RWD power as the Impreza is.
In most models, Subaru AWD power the front wheels primarilly and delivers up to 50% of the power to the rear via a VLSD. This percentage varies across model and transmission choices, and on rare models like the 1st generation Legacy touring wagon, is altered to be 100% rear initially and up to 30% front.
Just because an engine is mounted longitudinally doesn't mean that the rears are the primary drive, or the that a transverse mounted engine drives the fronts by default. If by "more work" on the EVO you meant "dumber engineering", I would agree with you in my own opinion (I'm a Subaru guy all the way, not a fan of Mitsu's), but the differences in performances between the EVO and STi are minor at most. The engine is still mounted forward of the front axle line in every production Subaru which is to allow for more cabin space and more efficient packaging. Even the weight distrobution, although better in the Impreza than the EVO, is front-heavy by a few percent.
Converting a transverse engined AWD car to RWD is not much (if any) more difficult or labor intensive than converting a longitudinally engined AWD car. Blake Fuller from Braille Auto converted the transverse engined, CR-V drivelined ITR to RWD (as seen in a 4 part series in Honda Tuning magazine) and it has held like a banshee.
The advantages that the Subaru holds over the EVO are in less major aspects of engineering - better rear suspension design and lower center of gravity from the H4 engine allow the Impreza to corner slightly better.
I hope this makes the technical situation a little more clear. I will also soon be undertaking a RWD conversion of my own on BG5 Legacy Wagon and will be sure to document the process for others to see and hopefully enrich the knowledge of the community.
In theory that is all good but I have a lot of Mitsu experience, especially with 4wd ones. The weakest point on the car is the trasfercase.Plus to use that same t-case to be the focal point to transmitsomething like 400 hp to the rear wheels, ...... would not really do it with out grenading.
I like the Imprezza too, and it just makes a hell of a lot more sense as a drift car. Sorry to jack the thread guys

The "Crash King" you refer to is Yuuki Izumida Jr. He once drove the ORC R32 GTS 4 door and he was the old driver of the ORC Z33, which is now the Top Secret Z33 driven by Ryuji Miki.
