Wasn't this covered like 40 times in the past few days? If you applauded him, great. If you boo'd him for the car he drives, too bad for you cause he's making ALOT more than you are at whatever crap job you work and he get's paid to drive. I won't lie, if freaking Daewoo offered me a sponsership, I would take it and if you say you wouldn't then you lie. Everyone wants to spout off all this crap about selling out and blah blah. But given the chance to make money AND do it driving???? If you say you wouldn't take that then you ain't a real driver. That is every drivers dream, heck every humans dream. To make money doing what you love.

So let's all step off the soapbox and take a reality break. He IS reality. He makes the dollars, he gets the chicks, he owns the houses and the cars. We don't. yeah I mean Rhys is dope.... don't get me wrong it's just something about the GTO and pontiac getting involved doesn't seem right.... I think most of us are in like a "skater" mentality where corporate sponsorship means bad news.... which means commercialism.... i totally agree with gouki, drifting is an extreme sport(or art)and very much like skateboarding...and when things get corporate things get fake. i suppose it has to happen sometime or else it wouldn't have made it to the u.s.


it just seems like we americans like to take things and blow them completely out of proportion(i.e. street racing)and when that happens it creates a lot of stereotypes among those who view the sport for what it is...

About the "skater boy" mentality- I know 2 types of skaters
1)people that like to skate and dont care. they actualy quite often dont even look like skaters.. kinda like drifters in stock-bodied 4 doors, or domestics
and
2)punk type kids that look and act and think like skaters, but hardly ever stand on a board... if you watch them, youll notice that those type people are ususaly doin it just to look cool and get attention... in the automotive word those people are called RICERS. I know some of them are for real, but not most...
I think that every person that boo'd Rhys for the fact that he was driving a Pontiac are RICERS every single freakin one of you... anyone else that did it for any other reason are just rude *Censored**Censored**Censored*'s.

skater boy mentality fits in everything. the ppl who do it for the fun and the ppl who do it just to look cool. every sport or activity has both of them. when ricers try to act all hardcore drifter, just remember, theyre not important, you drift, and you have fun drifting, thats all that matters in the end

I thought Rhys was awesome. He was doing pretty good. Oh and as a side note, I hated it when everyone mispronounces his name, even after the announcer said his name a thousand times. His name is "reese" not "rice".

But you guys know what I mean right....exactly bandwagon.... w/ the release of this GTO it's bringing more people into this.... making it more mainstream and that could be bad.... or it could be good... man you guys are really looking too deeply into this... like I said I just don't like the car because of all it's "meaning"..... Rhys is the man I applauded when they said applaud the driver.... but I would not applaud for the car....if it was his personal GTO.... I possibly would have, but not for the company.....and what ever u guys said, is pretty much what I had stated earlier $ talks so it's all good
