It's not model specific, but year. There's a solution to getting rid of your S4 lights. You take the S5 lights and swap them in .I've seen it done before,it looks really clean.

HAHA i had a beater 91 protege with around 200,000 miles on it for 2 years and never had a problem, i bought a brand new protege and when it had less than 1,000 miles on it i got rear ended at a stop light, i was just sitting there and the suv driver never hit the brakes till AFTER she hit me. I had just put the new plates on that day and i cried, although i was very impressed that the 2 people in my backseat were just fine, she was going 50 when she hit me.

Also on the FD, it'll be a tough car to learn on, do you know how to drive stick well yet? and i don't mean "i drove my friend's car it's stick" i mean can you take it through traffic without stalling, are you good to the clutch, things like that, because if you don't treat a high performance car right things break a lot more than on a beater sedan type thing. if you must have an rx-7 as a first car, go for a nice NA fc, i have one, it's my 3rd car and i'm loving it. sure it's "only" an NA but i'm telling you you change out the airbox and get a 2.5 or 3 inch exhaust on those cars and they just love to run, i have more mods planned in the future but for right now i'm reworking the suspension first. the rotary engine just loves to run, i agree with you that they're great cars and i'd love an fd, but insurance, gas (my fc get's over 30 mpg) and matinence expenses would kill me... and i work at a car shop =) anyway that's just my $.02 you do what you want though, after all it's up to you in the end

The FD isn't a hard car to learn on because of the clutch, it's a hard car to learn on because of the power. It will get away from you with a quickness. But on the flipside it makes it easier in a sense as well. Mine goes around pretty easily due to the power but if the boost come on you and you aren't ready for it, then you are circling.

If you are below the age of 25, don't have a good job and don't know about cars, don't get an FD. They are costly, very tempremental and insurance is going to KILL you. You will be a target from day one in the laws eyes. Plus you are going to want to fix it up and that attracts even more attn. EVERY swabbie on the road will want a piece of you and it's really hard to back down from an Olds Alero that is messing with you. I got my first ticket in Tenn that way. an Olds Alero was passing me trying to get me to race and we passed a cop, I got pulled over. That's the way it is.

Buy a 240, you'll have ALOT more money to spend, alot less insurance and it will stay on the road ALOT more frequently than that FD will.

Hey nedinic, I am not sure if you know this, or if someone already mentioned it on the thread but you can legally drive and import any cars older then 15 years in Canada, you can have a real jdm right hand drive AE86 Trueno, S13 Silvia, R32 Skyline, FC3S Savanna rx7 etc. If I were you I would talk to this guy at kansei, here is the web address, if I were in Canada I would be looking at an AE86 R32, FC or S13. The best part about it is you dont need to do any type of certification like you have to do here to make the car legal, you can import, register and drive it.

                        http://www.kansei.ca/browse.html

Oh yea, and if you look at the r32 Skyline GTR the price is between $18,000-$25,000 thats about the same price as your fd would have been just a thought.

Theres is a guy the same age in l.a. with an R33 Skyline, thats not a waste, the guy is hella cool, people respect him, whats the difference with a 17 year old in an fd? That is such a stereo type when you think someone cannot take care of a car and drive responsibly just because of their age.

Yes there were a few limited editions of the FD.

The 1st version RZ (300 units)

                                2nd version RZ

                                RS-R

                                Spirit-R

There were also some limitations on the 84 Type-R,you could call that a special edition as well if you wanted.Of course all these trim levels apply to the JDM market, not the US.
