    Errr..not exactly a toyota pickup.

Don't get me wrong dude, I love old cars and I love 510's. I would rock one every day of the week before i'd buy a new civic or something like that. I just think you are confusing "quck" with fast.

My bucket is an old GTI.

      YES! QUICK!
Hehe, that's just the comparison I was looking for earlier, hehe. A quick car is quick. Fast off the line, fast through 2nd gear. A 510 is a quick car. A Honda is not a quick car. It's a fast car.

I think it's the RWD vs FWD thing though, really.. I can launch really nicely off the line while FWD's can't put so much power to the wheels... just gets a lot of wheel spin.

I haven't backed down to a light-to-light yet, but I've lost a couple times... one day I lost to a Celica GT (late 70's.)... I was jazzed that he only beat me by slightly more than a fender length tho.. him and his 22R, weber downdraft...

      I also have a low-ratio transmission and run undersized tires (185/60 R14) with a 3.90:1 final.

      -shrugs-
      It's all relative.
      I like my quick car.

        Yea. I hear you.

Fast is like my buddy's camaro...12.7, 12.8 type stuff all day long. He blew his rear apart and ran it without posi and still cut a 13.4 at 106.

My car falls more in the quick category. Indeed I would probably rather drive a quick car most of the time. It can be a lot more fun to drive a slow car fast then a fast car slow.

I still feel the itch to build a monster though.

Aye. I've been dreaming of my car, stiffened up a bit, lowered, with an SR20DET with all the mods you could muster, Nitrous Oxide as well, lockable rear differential... you know how it goes. I wonder if there are any availiable locking units for R200 LSD's out there... either that or I'll just try a quaife (queef?) unit some day. I'd love a ub3r powerful 510... and I think the SR20DET is just the motor to build one.

I bet with a few dollars you could put down 250+ rwhp. Maybe 350 during a NOS shot. Whoo-ee! That'd be so fun!!!!!!! I would have to put on bigger tires to keep traction, for sure! Or just a little 3.3:1 rear differential or something... Yummeh.

                235 tq

With more hp comes more maintence and most Japanese drivers dont want to have to come over to the states and have to deal with a faulty car (and importing's not worth the cost). You have fun with that FD tho...

A majority here probobly only pushes <100whp.
I have 96hp at the crank, 60ish at the wheels (Stock)...
High compression head, advanced timing, exhaust, I may have close to 75whp. Never dynoed it, not worth the price for me to find out my car is slow-status.
70 hp isn't bad.. it gets you to work and back... and some fun in between when it rains

to work and back yes! but a friend of mines has got a wrecked camero that he said i could have so ive decided to do a chevy lt-1 conversion into my volvo 240. its going to be sweet. I'm not going to drive it around until i have my steering worked out though. and a litle better setup of my suspension, so it's going to be a little while.

Volvo 242 TIC(Drift car): Not dynoed but guessing around 340HP, and 450NM.
The Clutch maxes out at 450NM, and it is starting to slip.
                        Modifications: See my homepage www.m-d-s.se

Opel Omega V6(Daily driver and occasional drifter): 170+HP, 232+NM. It has some BPU.

Somebody should look up "Dave Lum's VG30DETT Datsun 510".. nickname is "Red".

If you guys have problems finding it, I shall give you the links to some pictures.

www.datsuns.com has the information. Can't miss it, twin louvered hood for the intercoolers. Runs 12's, And breaks loose at 60mph with too much throttle, including limited slip and traction tires.

Go figure. Daddy says "Yep, it'll drift."

                              .8 hp!

Whoops! Thats my r/c drifters rating

The car I am looking at getting (E30 325is) would be around 150hp or so without mods. A chip, underdrive pulleys, intake, some other small things would bump it in the 180hp range for not much money. I am saving up as we speak, working sat/sun atleast once a week so Ill have some spending money when I can drive w/o a parent. In around 6 months

~280-320rwhp 350-400rwtq based on trap speed calculations and from dynos of similiarly modified mk3's.
