"what do you have done to it?" i told him. "what parts would you like to see on the market?" he explained he had just purchased his own 240 and was building it up and wanted to know what is out there and what isnt. then, for some reason he came clean and told me he was some head honcho for marketing at APC and they were going to start making parts for drifting. i started laughing on the spot. he asked why i was laughing. i said well, do you see anything from APC on any cars here? what makes you think they will buy anything if you make drift parts? and i gurantee you, and im just being honest here, that if you make euro-tails or altezzas or whatever you guys call them these days for a 240sx or ae86... all these people here? (i pointed to the entire east lot at irwindale) they will be absolutely PI55ED. he answered "oh no, no we are trying to shake that image of being a rice company." yeah i bet.

then they put srobes and sh!t on ueo's ae86. and just about every other car that night at D1 USA. im real convinced this guy was lying his a55 off well, shinchu is not convinced. like crazyhawaiian said, other companies can surely make stuff happen like signal did. so did falken. apc is not THE authoritve figure for drifting in USA. i will definately support gabriel tyler and the rest of his staff at techno toy tuning and other companies like them (battleversion is another). i think APC helped get drifting poular in the US, but maybe in the wrong way. quite simply, drifting is to APC what whores are to pimps.

and i swear if i find that buisness card Mr. APC Marketing guy gave me, i would like to call him and remind him not to make any stupid tailights for the ae86 or any s chassis nissans. or anything else besides hondas for that matter. im sure some FC owners would get sick to thier stomachs to see apc tailights on thier cars. alright im going to quit b!tching. i think drifting is going to end up like the muscle car crowd. some like mustangs, some like chevy, and some like mopar. may god have mercy on the souls of those who like mopar and apc. (lol) and weapon x was reading my mind when he made his last post.
The name your looking for is Larry Ashley. And doing his marketing job like a profesional would, wouldnt it be wise to ask around and see whats up with the market, How shallow you are. And I dont think APC put one strobe light or neon tube on Ueos car, same as Taneguchi and the rest, they have been using flashlamps and neon on there cars long before you could drift. And as far as all the 240 and what not tails APC dosent build a one. I also have the lates D1 finnal DVD and geuss what almost all the S15s have the tails, and flash lamps, and neon. Damn them APC for corrupting the drift doggs.

Acctuly as well as you are informed, you would know that they do infact have two US drivers, and they are building there cars as we speek. And you cant belive the long line of drivers that wanted the oppertunity to drive for APC. To bad they were all mouth and no talent, Like some on this forum.

if this Larry Ashley (and APC for that matter) is so great, why did he have to lie to me? couldnt he have just been honest and told me what he was doing from the get-go? just seems sneaky.

but hey, when APC releases some dope lookin glow in the dark cams for my 4AGE, i'll be first in line! especially if they are like, see through plastic!

im gonna stop shakin this tree before a coconut falls out and hits me in the face.

Keep in mind these are all respectable Japanese drivers. My argument isnt with the product itself, it's with the image it brings along with it. Am I wrong when I saw all this SpoCom *Censored**Censored**Censored**Censored* is just a joke? A mockery of the gaijin import scene? You're forgetting the *Censored**Censored**Censored**Censored* we have to deal with over here, call me melodramatic but it's not just about the altezzas at the store, or what people put on their car for a laugh. It's a whole mentality that will sweep the masses like the bubonic fuccing plague.

The japanese market mentality is significantly different than ours in that way. The *Censored**Censored**Censored**Censored* originated over there, they might like what we have over here just because whatever is american is the cool thing. But if it aint broke, don't fix it. Who in there right mind would take an APC bolt on muffler over a some respectable japanese tuner's product if it didnt have anything to do with following a certain style. If we're talking about product quality and functionality then they're not going to choose the cheezy American Plastic Crap alternative.

driftxtreem - pretty much what people are saying is that APC sells/mass markets trashy parts to trashy people with a trashy image. They don't want that cheapened image to be associated with drifting because they would feel short-changed and ripped off. I'm not casting judgement on APC or Driftxtreem, I'm just reiterating what people are saying. They have a valid point as drift enthusiasts as well as you have a valid point as a business partner.

It seems like APC's ONLY interest is money. If thats the case they'll push drifting to the world and have everybody and their grandma drifting which would suck. Is there an equilibrium where everybody can meet and squash the beef? Idk? Its a cross cutting issue that can't effectively be dealt with over night.

You can't tell them to quit making rice and these guys can't tell you to stfu about APC. Personally I think when things go mainstream in this country they get played out - like M.C. Hammer. People realize that and don't feel like watching their passion go down the $hitter.

Exactly. It's not that I dont have faith in you, driftxtreem, and what you're doing. It's that in this kind of situation I have no faith in my country and the morons inhabiting it.

Just one question to all. What has Initial D done to the sport in your opinion. I know what it has done to it here in Japan.

Most of the coments made here reflect exactly what it has done for the sport here, as well as the merchandise and so forth. Another pokemon
