    Drifter is great because its is skill, its so personal. Each person has his own style... The car is just an extension of this.

    So rhys is driving a big heavy GTO, not the only heavy vehichle competiting. It may indeed be the heaviest, but thats alright, He will have to adapt his current skills and style to work with it. And adapt the car to skills and style.

    I think its great. Maybe Pontiac will produce some more sports car. Something light weight to go along with the GTO. The solstice is a step in the right direction. Make it a coupe and give it a turbo/super charger as an option keep it around 20k and you have the next S13 of the drifting world.

          I got to respect the tin indian for steping to the place..and being the first car copany to sponcer a drift car...ever

          and the new pancho 2 seeter is going to be a sweet drift ride..whent he Supercharged motor comes into play..

            Woudlnt it be great if they made a 2+2 coupe based on the solstice body and engine. like the S13, maybe a hatchback even... I would love to see pontiac make that.

            Of course i much prefer to see Nissan make that... but its not going to happen.

              yes Menchi let's stop here but yea Hawaiin I know what you mean by the sponsorship thing but if you think about who do you think knows more about it....? I have friends in the industry and yes I know that some people in companies such as HKS don't know spit about drifting but before you start to flame think about what your saying *stop flaming*




              *Oh and it's Gouki not Gouku by the way I started watching dragon ball before it was popular and finished the series when it was....*

                      *sigh* man also we are arguing on different things Hawaiian is talking about sponsors which I was talking about and no it's not cuz it's an american company.... and also not everybody was sponsored the diahatsu was not and the black hatchi (alex phifers car) u obiviously aren't reading my posts.... and 510 and ghost are talking about the skill of the driver which I agree on.... Rhys is D.O.P.E. (there spelled it out) so yeah we all got what we wanted off our chests can some mod. lock this thread please?

                        Why would they lock this thread? Because you cant explain the reasoning behind your opinion? I'm not flaming ya. I'm questioning your opinions. As a person who hopes to compete in events like this in the future, you're reasoning behind boo'ing the GTO is offending me. You say its wrong for Pontiac to sponsor a drifter, but its OK for "HKS or a company that knows something about drifting like Nissan or Mazda not Pontiac." You obviously hate Pontiac because its a domestic US company and thats why you boo the GTO. Can you imagine how this makes me feel considering that I'm dreaming of sponsorships from companies like Pontiac or Chevy? Same way Rhys probably felt while the crowd was boo;ing him for no good reason. You might as well hate on me and my cars because I drive Chevy. I ask you why (please explain yourself) and your answer is "I have friends in the industry" while you insinuate that you "know more about it" than me. I guess you "know more about it" just like HKS knows how to drift better than Pontiac.

                        If you had any real reason to hate on the GTO, then I wouldnt be saying anything. So you hate it because of the looks, how you think it performs/handles. So you hate it because it drifted slow, or you were a fan of the previous sponsor. Fine. But to hate it just because its American? Thats ignorance right there. You are being just as ignorant as those close minded domestic guys that consider every import in the world rice. YOU think about it.

                          It was so sad to hear that people were booing a U.S. person in the D1.
                          The whole JDM Jockin' mentality is getting old. But to knock your own country/automakers for making an attempt is pretty pathetic.

                          Sure they have a lot to work on if they want to capture this age demographic, but it's being shown that they are not even WANTED in the scene....This coming from kids living off the backs of someone else.

                          0ne day they'll understand why it's important to support the country you live in.

                            Do your homework. GM has three cars planned for production on the kappa platform. One is a 2+2 maybe 4 door coupe. RWD. prob under $20K. Why would it need a turbo to be the next S13. We didnt get a turbo in the US and it did well enough. Though there is a supercharged solstice planned.

                                You didn't threadjack on that one Hachi. It's a great point. As for the rest, it's still a rice, adolescent move to boo Pontiac for their attempt at D1. To further show your ignorance, you all cheered that Viper. Oh yea that was cool cause it was a Viper. Thats just stupid. But since you all are on the weight subject, in stock trim the GTS coupe weighs in at 3400 lbs with a 49/51 weight distribution. That isn't a far cry from the GTO. Power is 100HP difference at stock.

                                But it was ok to back the Viper and not the Pontiac. Why? You boo one American car but think the other one is cool. Oh, I forgot, it's a Viper. "Oh we didn't boo Mr Millen Ghost, we boo'd his car". Crapola, if you boo'd the car, you boo'd the man plain and simple. I thought his move to Pontiac was a great one and think their move to D1 was great. It's the first major player in D1. The rest are tuner shops and privateers. So bring on more.

                                If it's gonna be your habit to boo American automakers you are A) wasting your time and B) you better get your voicebox ready cause next year theres gonna be more.
